Also, maybe it is a cost issue, perhaps clickers cost less. Only high end models ever received the haptics, AFAIK. Most importantly, enjoy your new car day ! and your new car, as well, of course. I do love the amarok as a no-compromise combo of high end comfort and get-the-job-done ruggedness. Thanks AHG. It’s my partner’s work workhorse vehicle plus doubles up as family wagon for the messier trips - bike transport, tip runs etc but it’s a fun truck to drive so looking forward to it. It’ll be our third Amarok but the first one with all this newer tech so at least I’ll be able to sooth partner’s furrowed brow if it starts throwing out gremlins. 😄 AHG

Steering wheel has traditional buttons rather than haptics. Is it the "Ranger by Ford" version (ie the latest model) or is it the previous "made by VW" version ? It is, it’s the latest model with this partnership between VW and Ford. He currently has a 2019 Amarok and before that had a 2015 one, so be interesting to see how this latest one compares to those. gregozedobe

(trying to isolate potentials culprits) Mine makes some noise when turning right while accelerating, but I think I only hear them because I sit on the left. It is a noisy car. It may be a variety of things, from dour seals or locks, to something in the doors, suspension mount (the rubber part), and at some point it sounds like as if the tensioner of the seat belt is gradually pulling it up. Anyway, not a quiet car, that’s for sure … meditation helps 🙂 imagine your stationary with foot on brakes and turning steering wheel you can hear the “creaking” sort of noise from the brakes as the pads move on the disks slightly….. that’s the noise but when moving and not on the brakes. -kenny-
Hey everyone, I'm a golf mk8 R owner since juli of this year. Unfortunately it's gremlins are what brought me here. I get the travel assist and emergency assist bongs from time to time but not that bad. I've had no sound coming from the speakers two times now since owning the car, accompanied with error messages of everything that uses the speakers. The reverse camera acts up every now and then with flickers and a black screen. All of these don't happen to often for now so i can live with it at the moment 🤞 What's way more frustrating is creaking/cracking in the suspension or steering. Happens mostly at low speeds and when steering as reported by many. The car is going in to vw on 20 october. Fingers crossed they're able to fix it. I also have the "cards in the wheels" sound from the brakes. I was wondering: is there a known cause and/or fix for this? Very annoying once you start listening for it. AHG
Cause - seems to be the fact that the discs have flat areas in 3 places on the circumference, that cause aerodynamic noise when passing close to the cowling (the back plate protecting the disc from behind it). Fix - some push out the plate to clear more space between it and the disc, personally I just live with it as it doesn’t cause a functional issue. -kenny-

Muffler
This thread is making me sweat. I’ve just sold my Civic FL5 (amazing car to drive, it really is, but you can’t drive it quickly without standing out) back to the supplying dealer and going back to a 8R wagon - preregistered deal I couldn’t pass up, despite being 100% sure I was waiting for the 8.5 before I came back… Sat in a 23 plate GTI yesterday and the infotainment system does seem a lot, lot quicker than the ID3 my wife had for a while, but know I’ll be back on here within the first 10k miles complaining of control arm bushes and top mounts. Add in all the bongs, capacitive issues…

TechieAli
From my experience so far if you buy a 2023 model it should be pretty much gremlin free. Muffler
