19" Prets on a mk8 R ??

Recommended Posts

Your car. Your choices.
For me, Pretorias are lovely looking wheels.  Suit an R well.  Signature 19” alloys for Mk7 & 7.5R.

Mk8 is new. Fresh. If you’re not keen on 19” Estorils there are many 19” Aftermarket alternatives that will Pop on a Mk8R
Be bold. Lead the way. 👏

Have a browse at the Alloy wheel specialist pages for things that float your boat.
Combine with Top Tyres when you decide.

Theres always Buyers for Used alloys/Tyres if you need to sell either set, now or later.

Hi All,

ive been offered a set of 19" Black Prets at the right price but do you think these will look dated on the MK8 R??

Do you think they'll look dated?

I'm not sure it's a question of looking dated as just their association with the mk7/7.5.  To me they will always be a 7/7.5 wheel (and loved them on mine for 5.5 years) but it's your car so does that matter to you?  If it were me I'd be looking for something fresh - Prets beautifully complemented the classic design and lines of the 7/7.5 but to me the mk8 design needs something a little different.  Aftermarket Estoril style from CM wheels perhaps?

thanks for you input mate, the cm estoril route is what i was going to down but in 19" the ET is 35 and i think there may be too muck poke?

I swore i'd never have diamond cut alloys ever again - although i do really like the look of them and they hide brake dust well with the black gloss, just if you intend to keep the car the damn things don't last and white worm after a few years (sooner if they get chipped or marked in any way), making them look horrible and requiring an expensive refurb. I went through all that nonsense on my last car.

Constant waxing and coating may abate this though, but they're just too much high maintenance for me....still if i owned a mk8 i'd probably want a different wheel than prets, purely just because they are associated with the mk7 and i'd see it as a bit of a backward step - ot at least more of the same if i previously owned a mk7.
