Hi all,

Just got myself a Pure White Mk7 R (manual). I’ve owned a Mk5 GTI previously but this is another kettle of fish, absolutely love it.

Looking to keep standard for the time being but when the upgrades come I understand the clutch will be done first, open to any suggestions/advice for ownership and/or mods.

Based within Hampshire so would be great to meet some more R owners.

Cheers,

Matt

Welcome.

Looks a nice example.Your right about the clutch, even with standard power they can slip.

Thanks. Regarding the clutch, it seems that Sachs are the most popular, do most R owners go for that option?

3dr white and grey Prets, snap! Excellent choice motor looks sick mate.

I came from a Mk5 GTI too, i had an 06 GTI and a 08 Ed30 both brilliant cars but nothing compared to the R really.

Cheers mate, just seen yours and I have to say I’m a fan. I like the look of that spoiler, is that a 7.5 option or was it a separate purchase?

Used to live local to you (Berkshire) recently moved to Hertfordshire. I'm running Stage 2 (high torque APR map) on my manual 7R. Yes Sachs sintered paddle clutch, heavy, squeaky, won't ever slip 👌

Welcome to VWROC!

:welcome:

Car looks stunning.  God to hear you're enjoying it after the mk5 GTI (great cars though - I had two of them), it's a great move.

Lots of help and advice, and inspiration on here so I hope you find it a good place to be.

Thanks mate, i believe it was an option from factory but not many ticked it. You can buy it from VW it's a genuine part but made by Oettinger, think they are about £500-600 painted/fitted all in from VW. I got mine of a German parts specialist and paid about £450 all in 🙂
