What software and hardware version does your R have?

but I also like a gremlin-low car (if not free)

and from all of you I gather this causes issues

 

also, I’m not sure it won’t get stuck, as I’m not sure I have coverage (no we-connect support here, and not sure about cubic).

 

maybe I should hop on to the shop and ask them to do it there after they run a diagnostic in my car and record it (meant to do that last part anyway)

I was teasing @AHG.  😄

 

It’s early days but the OUG1 update hasn’t caused any issues for me since I did it.   Anything I’ve had since doing it, pre existed.  What issues have others had as a result of doing that update?  
 

I get your fear about it getting stuck, even with coverage that’s a fear.  I would definitely take it to your dealership and ask them to do it, then you’re covered if something goes wrong.

I thought you and some of the others said that the black screens and reboots started happening after the OTA update, and I wrong ?

My black screen and reboot issue predates the OUG1 OTA update - I’ve posted about it several times in the gremlins  well before the OTA update came.  That’s why it was already booked in to the dealership (along with SOS and TA errors).  I had the OUG1 OTA update pop up the day before it went in to the dealership.  The dealership updated the software to 1899 to remedy the black screen issue.  Since then I’ve had two further instances of black screen reboot.   I guess it’s impossible to know if the 1899 did remedy the issue and then the OTA update made it recur, or whether the 1899 update didn’t resolve it and it would have persisted regardless.  Either way the issue still remains, although I’ve not had anything for a few days now.  
 

I don’t know about other people following the OTA update.

For reference. The full list on the OUG1 update. Had it come through yesterday and thought I'd capture the full list.

  • the GPS accuracy of the navigation
  • privacy settings
  • the network connection
  • the display with upgrades
  • the statutory emergency call eCall
  • automatic trigger detection
  • Data transmission
  • Pop-up, LED and audio behaviour
  • Redial
  • We Connect remote functions

 

I'm actually thinking this patch might actually fix some of the issue I have, where it signs me out almost every journey due to 'limited connectivity' and the globe icon being out.

 

Interestingly, I let it finish over night, next morning, I had a stop-start error message. Maybe due to the update? My front door was open, so it also thought there was a car inside my house 🤦‍♂️

Absolutely no idea lol. That one did puzzle me a bit. I gave up trying to work it out. Only two things I came up with were something ECU related for the engine timing, or for the gesture sensor / hand presence sensor on the infotainment screen.

Had a black screen yesterday. 

That's after the update to 1899 and the OUG1, OTA update.

We'll let the dealer know.

 

I do think we should document what we know and send it to VW.
