Nick-St
Did 165 miles yesterday on motorways, A & B roads getting an average of 29.1mpg. Not too bad considering it's size - I think our old 7.5R would have got around 33mpg on a similar trip.
Nick-St
Did an A road run for about another 110 miles yesterday and got 33mpg (traffic was flowing pretty much all the way, so not much stopping/starting). Have to say I'm pretty impressed its that much!
Digitalis
Great to finally have a fellow Tiguan R owner on the forum. Welcome! I managed to squeeze nearly 40mpg out of mine on a long run from Swansea to Brum. Was trying hard to max it out all the way though.
DSarge
I’m heading to Glasgow later and will be interested to see what it achieves. If it can deliver near 40 I’ll be well impressed. That was the territory of my golf R.

I got my figures in Comfort Mode, which seems to make a big difference. Incidentally, the ride is very noticeably smoother in Comfort
DSarge
Just short of 37 mpg on my 130 mile trip to Glasgow. Very impressed especially given inclement weather and traffic. I told myself I wouldn’t get hung up on mpg with this car but I can see a personal challenge developing!
Nick-St
Still better than I’m doing - 34 is highest so far, but it is fun! Lowest for a complete journey was 21 after a B road blast - you can certainly feel the difference in weight between it and a Golf when braking! Benjiman
38.8 Bristol City Centre to edge of Gower is my best so far. Round trip was 37.9mpg, over 207 miles. Was pretty new then, engine wearing in still :)
Spiezels
What are people getting for urban driving?
sandtrap
28.4mpg is most I could see today on a 150mile trip but car is new and has now only 340 miles total and the dealership filled it up and I bet they put in that shite e10 stuff even though I specifically asked them not to and that can cost you 4 mpg
sandtrap
1400 miles done now and long term average is 27 mpg i have had it show a +33 on a long drive so nothing wrong with that
DSarge
Normally I’m between 32 and 38 but have seen 40 on a couple of occasions in particularly favourable circumstances over a journey of c30 miles. Can’t complain at that.
