Hi Guys,
Looking for some guidance...
I have a 2015 golf R DSG with 60K miles. I had the Haldex serviced by VW in December last year and no problems reported. I then had a stage 1 map done in Jan and immediately noticed loads of front wheel spin. This was possibly happening before but probably hadn't driven it hard for a while so not noticed. I popped back to the garage that had done the stage one and they hooked it up to their diagnostics and diagnosed Haldex pump failure, this was replaced and they said all was good, but the wheel spin still remained. with ESC on in first and second if I floor it the ESC Light just goes mad and the car bogs down in the first 2 gears. in ESC sport mode the front wheels just spin, 1st is unusable and 2nd is not much better! I've since read just about every post on the internet but still have questions and cant really find a post that covers the whole drive train and also the relationship between the various other systems such as ESC & ESC sport, ABS etc.
I appreciate there has to be a limit to physical grip but reading loads of posts, sounds like I should be able to get the power down without all this wheel spin even with the stage 1!
Q. I understand the Haldex system and how it transfers up to 50% torque to the rear. my question is about the bit before that, there must be some sort of from diff that splits the power between the front and rear drive shafts, are the front and rear drive shafts always spinning at the same speed? lets assume the Haldex doesn't exist and it's a solid drive shaft to the rear diff would my front and rear wheels be turning at the same speed in a straight line or say for instance my front wheels are on ice and my back wheels where on dry tarmac would my front wheels just spin or are the drive shafts fixed so they must turn at the same speed so my gripping back wheels would just push me forward? you can probable tell from this I'm not mechanical! I'm sure this is a stupid question but from a non mechanical guy I'm thinking it's possible for the inner and out wheels on the same axel to spin at different speeds when cornering so I'm applying that logic and thinking it may be possible for front and rear wheels to spin at different speeds. The other half of my brain is shouting well that would defeat the point of 4 wheel drive, but I'm asking it anyway please don't be too patronising...
I think what I'm trying to get at is if the front and rear axles must spin at the same speed then it would be impossible to spin the front wheels and not the back at the same time so in my case points back to the Haldex system still not functioning correctly.

Hi, I'd be keen for your thoughts.
I have a Golf R Mk7.5 estate GPF (sleeper) that currently has a Forge inlet, K&N filter, uprated NGK spark plugs / coils and DIY opened inlets on the grille along with a custom DSG and TSU tune from DMS Automotive. Stock was 309 BHP and 450 Nm of Torque at the flywheel. After tune, I'm now getting 378 BHP and 550 Nm of Torque at the flywheel.
Next step in April is the replace anti roll bars and shocks with H&R roll bars and coil overs, SuperPro bushes, Wagner Intercooler, BCS down pipe with sports cat and update the ECU tune.
Whilst I'm doing all this and with the expected power and torque increases, I've decided to upgrade the front brakes. I've already got braided lines and Ferodo pads and VBT J hooked disks. Now I want to go for a Big Brake Kit and was looking at the 362mm two piece floating rotors and cannot decide if I go with 4-pot Brembos for Aston Martin or go for 380mm two piece floating rotors with 6pot calipers from AP racing.
The car will be running the 18" Cadiz for now with spacers (keeping to the sleeper theme) and will not be tracked. However, it is driven quite hard or very hard most of the time.
Any thoughts and logic between 4pot and 6pot would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers AD
