Does anyone know if VW warranty covers track use? For example, if I'm on track and I crap a drive shaft, is that covered?

I've a mk3 focus RS currently, and track use was covered under fords warranty. But just wondered if anyone knows if VW covered it?

Assuming VW would consider track use to be motor sports activity then no, the warranty wouldn’t apply as motor sports activities are specifically excluded - see screenshot below.

Link to new car factory warranty terms and conditions at the link below;

VW’s ‘All-In’ and ‘Approved Used’ warranty products also specifically exclude track days (exclusion 9 in both warranty documents);

‘This cover does not cover any injury, failure, loss or damage caused by, arising from or in connection with the following;

9. If the vehicle has been used for competitions of any kind, racing, pacemaking, rallies, off-road use including track days, for any form of hire or reward and usage for or by driving schools.’

I think only competing qualifies as motor sports

If I’m right, as long as no times are measured and you don’t take part in any type of competition (or training for one) it is just driving fast on tarmac (asphalt) which has no legal ground to void warranty over (just like they can’t void it for speeding AFAIK).

Still, heard of folks that if something happens on track,

they tow it a mile or two from it, then call roadside services.

ETTO I guess

EDIT:

Interesting, hey would a track be considered off-road ?

It is a private road, like any campus or parking lot, but it is still a road for all legal purposes (and not dirt or “off road”), isn’t it ?

That's what I was hoping haha. Since you're not allowed to time on track days, does it count as sport?

I guess like you said though, if any issues drive it home first 😅

It’s interesting that track days are specifically excluded under VW’s All In warranty and the Approved Used warranty but there’s no specific mention of track days under the new car factory warranty 🤔

Yeah, especially on a performance car haha. My focus RS actually came with a separate instruction manual telling you how to track the car properly 😅

But like you say, maybe the fact the factory VW warranty doesn't specifically say track days are excluded, it's a good sign. Best not to find out though haha

Saw this R 20 advertised and thought something looks decidedly dodgy about the front ride height

c500 - have they left the transport suspension pucks in all that time??

Wow that does look odd. Maybe they took the photo as soon as the car arrived before removing the pucks, or maybe they’ve not taken them out at all!  Wouldn’t be the first time (understatement).

Yeah definitely not right. Looks about 4 inches too high. 🤣
