Big Dxwg
I just got my renewal it has gone from £640 to just ~£1375. I know car insurance has gone up a lot for everyone, but to have doubled, it is unbelievable! I have run quotes on the usual sites its about £850 with insurance companies that defaqto 2 rated, a decent one is around £1000. I haven't had any accidents, claims, points etc. 45 years old, full NCB, I do think its the car. Must have been a high number of these stolen over the past year in and around the east london/essex area. I tried quotes for Porsche Macan S that I want to get soon, that is around £700, Macan GTS around £850. Has anyone else found that their car insurance premium on your R has gone up? sibbers
Yeah. It’s shocking really. With admiral my renewal went from 500 to 870, so I phoned around and did some comparisons then went back to admiral and they first of all matched my best quote (quotezone!) which was 720, then added some more discounts. I added some mods (non standard alloy wheels and exhaust) as well as extra mileage, plus i want decent cover just incase with low excess, and the end result was about 700 IIRC. Seems it’s worth phoning the cancellation number and also doing it before it gets too close to renewal after getting better quotes elsewhere. I think I read somewhere that you get better quotes when you’re checking for three or more weeks in advance. Really annoying and far too time consuming, but I suppose that’s part of how they nudge the prices up. Big Dxwg
Big Dxwg
If it were up a few hundred quid, id be ok. But mine is has doubled!! It is definitely going to speed up my search for a new (used) Porsche Macan! Any insurers other than the ones on the comparison sites you can recommend? I'll try Adrian Flux too. Laths
Before you try Adrian Flux, read the reviews 😒. For info, mine went from £385 last year to £705 with Churchill with no claims or points and 7 years no claims and they wouldn’t budge . Liverpool Victoria told me they don’t insure this type of car. Cheapest I could find was £515 and that is in a London Borough . Dickie-D

I haven't got my renewal yet but also expecting a large jump. Currently with Flow who are part of LV and might be worth a quote. One poster says LV don't cover the Golf R but they do(may be in certain parts of the country they don't???) At the moment LV are one of the cheaper quotes for me but i am waiting to see what the renewal from Flow is. Big Dxwg
Microbe
It might be worth looking at GA who are a subsidiary of Aviva. I got a renewal which was less than £300 thus year! Good luck!

Good luck! I for one am shopping around as mine is due for renewal next month. Just tried GA and it came in at over £700...i think a lot of people are going to be in for a shock at renewal time. I am 60 over 20 years plus years no claims...no points semi retired and live in a semi rural area with the car parked on the drive overnight. I don't know how insurance companies decide who should get a good price and who dosen't. Will update this thread when i renew in July and who with and how much. Big Dxwg
I just tried GA. £1100. I am 45 and with 18yrs NCB. I am so reluctant to pay over £1000 for this car that I dont value. Might end up selling it at end of month.
Microbe
Wow, they are high! I'm 66 full ncb no points car garaged overnight in Essex, max 6000 miles per annum

Trekkkie
My renewal after the annual phone call to see if the quote could be improved- it’s a game that’s getting boring- was much the same as last year at around £300 in February. NRW
V6coop
Try a higher voluntary excess, for the sake of 1 or £200 in the event of an accident it can make a massive difference. NRW
Big Dxwg
My excess is already £750 - I just rang up hastings, and they managed to get me a quote for £917, down from £1350 (but up from £635). I am content at that price, not ideal. I will push ahead and search for a new car though Thanks for everyones suggestions.
gazza5
I'm with hastings (premier I think) despite two windscreen claims, my insurance went up from £397 to £697. I can get it with 2 star places (that don't cover europe etc) for £800. So sticking with my renewal, as its the cheapest I can get. Tried other places, most are around 900 - absolute joke - no claims. My missus paid £197 last year, her renewal £897 - its only a 1.2 pug 2008 with 84 bhp!, hers are coming out at £240 for cheapest, again no claims.
