Guest Scott
Morning All, I have been looking at buying a VW T-Roc R for the past few weeks. Does anyone have any advice in what to look for or if they have any common problems to keep on eye out for. The car has done a few miles in its life too. Thanks Scott
NRW
What mileage are you talking about? Lots of shared mechanicals with the Golf R….. so, Basics from me, Ensure a good Service History and record of this. Every 10k or 12 months is best. EA888 engines like good, clean oil. Haldex service due at 3 years. Make sure this is done, preferably with the gauze cleaned too. It can block and lead to premature failure and loss of 4 motion facility. Brake fluid at 3 then every 2 years. Tip. Check out the VW All In warranty if the car is being bought privately and over 3 y.o with a good , full history. A bargain, comes with 2 Services,MOTs and Roadside. VW Used warranty and package good too. Unless you’re tuning it, a warranty is a wise idea just in case of any failures. Thermostat/housing and pump are known weaknesses and can cost £1000 region to fix. Ouch. Wheels & Tyres are dear so check condition and any damage. Others will add much more I guess. Good luck with the hunt.
