Richard_Nottm
Was pondering for a while and finally ordered and fitted some Emerald boot struts this weekend. Quite happy with them. A 10 min job to fit. The boot now pops fully open on pressing the boot key fob button. As per the link and video clip https://emeraldstruts.com/collections/volkswagen-golf-mk7/products/mk7-golf Couldn't see any 'Emerald' content in the forum and just thought i would share. Anyone else fitted these? NRW
NRW
Shame there hasn’t been an electronic opening/closing for the R hatch - even as an Option. Reserved by VAG for S3 and up….
Emerald Struts
Hey 👋 Thanks for your review, we’re glad you like them! Which car model are you enquiring about? Thank you 🙏

Reserved by VAG for S3 and up…. Yes, the missus has the electric tailgate in the Tiguan and its very handy with the dog etc, There doesn't seem to be anyone on the forum saying they've had these fitted which is fair enough. Emarald do seemingly sell proper electric kits for around £400 + fitting. Is this emerald comment some kind of automated post? Obviously there's no enquiry here! Crazy world! Big Thanks for sharing this @Richard_Nottm. And with 10% off too. Would fit nicely into my R and super convenient for me too. One for me to chew on and investigate Warranty implications for my hitherto bone stock car. Cheers. Richard_Nottm

Not a concern i don't think. 14 hours ago, BATVAN said: Shame there not available for the estate version? Shame. I was surprised to see the 3 door and 5 door strut kits could potentially be different - as its an option on the website picker.
TheBlondeFella
How much extra pressure is needed to close the boot lid, I've heard some versions of these take a lot to close it? holy_piranha

The standard boot more or less shuts itself with gravity and a little encouragement. With these aftermarket struts you definitely have to press against some resistance to shut the boot...i guess that effort is loading the small springs. Its not a big deal just different. The quicker you shut it the easier it is. I think the convenience of clicking the button when carrying bags etc is a plus. holy_piranha
