8.5R v New S3 Carwow & DrivetheDeal pricing

Just been running the man maths calculator on both Carwow & DrivetheDeal.

Both similar pricing on the new S3 with discount on the Vorsprung model in Daytona & Mythos  coming in at circa £48k.

Black Edition Tech Pro coming in at £45k.

Bad news is Audi's PCP rate at 8.9%!!

Wonder how VW will compete with the 8.5R on their PCP. I suspect some discounts will be available.

The current RS3 models are starting to budge I assume as new model is imminent 🤔🤔

I said on a previous thread VW are going to have to get the pricing right on the 8.5 because the new S3 is a great car from all the reviews(apart from the ugly badge on the front) and would not have been on my radar previously.

At the moment on DTD the APR for VW's is 6.9%. But no idea what the R will be when it comes out.

Thats madness 50K for an S3 !

When i look at these prices I definitely had a real bargain when i bought my MK8R and I don't think that will ever be possible again.

I suspect used values will certainly soften when the 8.5 arrives.

Im keenly looking at R20's with spec.

I agree that £50k is ridiculous.

My MK7 was a bargain in many respects even its stock spec

I'am keenly looking at the R20 also with it being a limited run it appeals to me

Pretty sure they only made around 1800

Car prices are crazy and I don't see them getting better .

I bought my current S3 new in 2019 it was 41k and i haggled it

down to 35k which seems like a bargain looking at todays prices .

I agree there are a few pre reg R20's around the 40k which seems reasonable in the crazy prices of new cars.

Probably stock cars without DCC, HK or Pan Roof.

I've seen a few in the mid £50k loaded with most options. I suspect those will be commanding strong prices for a few years.

I bought my R new in 2016 as a cancelled order and it was in my ideal spec but I've tried to keep the miles down as I only now use it the odd weekend so covers approx 3-4K per year. I don't normally keep cars this long but having done bits to it and it being 3 doors it drives so well still. Even at 54k it's still relatively low miles. I may just lock it away put it back stock and give it to my son.

I certainly won't buy a Golf cash now at £50k as we have other plans into our retirement ...property and traveling so it will be a PCP purchase at the right time for us.

HAving said that a nice low mile RS3 will hold onto its money for years.
