Hey all,

Wondering is anyone has done some internal mods such as a centre console cover like this-

https://oneminibite.com/products/vw-golf-mk7-mk8-gear-shift-panel-cover?srsltid=AfmBOopnu_auEyZdYsrfV9a2HbyNbWFlYEHhOB8QPzGgeVG3tzPxUlBC&variant=47632547709171

They only do LHD unfortunalty, wondering if anyone has gotten their hands on a RHD version?

Also has anyone installed alcantara on their door cards? Ive found a online store that sends you the pre cut (ish) alcantar to fit to the upper and lower section of the leather of your door cards.

this one

Any other interior mods anyone can recommend to make the inside feel a bit more lux or comfier? I have a basic spec MK7 so would like to spruce the inside up a bit more. Even looked into places that do alcantara on the dashboard

There's lots you can do to improve the interior all depends on your budget.
I started most of my upgrades in my mk7 then moved them over to my 7.5 later.
I've never liked my cars to be the same as everyone else's.
A few pics of some of the interior mods done over the years.
I've probably gone further than I should have but I'd get bored otherwise. lol

These are fairly old threads (a part 1 and part 2) now but might be good for ideas

That front camera does that work on the headunit? And how do you activate it?

The uploaded picture showing my headunit is actually the front camera view not the rear.
I have guidelines on to help judge where my wheels are in relation to the kerb.
The camera activates in two ways. After putting the car in drive after being in reverse it switches

to front camera for about 3 or 4 seconds then goes to standard display.
Alternatively there is a custom button top right of the center console that is usually a blank
but allows me to activate the camera on demand.
The reverse camera always takes priority over the front.

Very nice, do you have a guide on how to do that?

Its not a DIY job at least it wasn't for me. I use a small specialist car audio company for
this type of work.
The challenges were finding an aftermarket camera that can withstand being blasted
with rain and wind at 70mph on the motorway. I went through a few iterations of camera before finding one that would survive more than a week or two.

Then you need a dedicated camera interface which you can get from these guys.
You need the one compatible with your screen.
 https://www.nav.tv/products/reverse-camera-interface/vw-seat-skoda-porsche-front-reverse-camera-input-92-12-screen

The interface comes with its own trigger button or you can rig up your own if you
have access to the right technical people to do something more oem looking.

The simplest option would be to let the interface do the switching but it all depends
why you want the front camera and how you want it to work.

Note that the interface cannot show guide lines if operating as a front camera.
In my example the guide lines are added by the special camera i managed to find rather than the switching interface which only shows guide lines when setup as a reversing camera.
Its been a few years since i did this so things may have changed with the camera interface as i noticed on there latest video them demonstrating features that weren't there when I got mine.
