  1. Yeah that's a good deal for definite. Glad to hear the engine is strong then and can take a bit more power.
  2. Any particular reasons the engine is stronger ?
  3. how is the oil consumption of the 6r then as its not good on some vag engines. And my octavia vrs uses a bit at the moment too
  4. I'd rather own a car outright at the moment than have to pay a monthly payment tbh. Although I suppose having a new one rather than a used one has its merits. Is it a case of going to see a main dealer or is there places to get better deals ?
  5. Looking at cars online it seems 22k will get a reasonably low mileage 6R or a for a similarly lowish mileage 7R I'd need to be looking around 25k upwards. That's my dilemma really as the 7r is more powerful and newer and has better fuel economy and lower tax (not that that's a huge issue given the performance etc) than a 6r but then I have a bluefin that I use on my current car. So am I better getting a low mileage 6r and having the bluefin reprogrammed which would theoretically take the 6r to similar power to the 7r Is the engine in the 6r good for tuning and still reliable ? I assume from research that it's a different engine to the ea888 or whatever it's called that's in the 7r?
  6. That's good to know then
  7. suppose a lot of it depends on driving style, amount of miles and a bit of luck. ive sort of got a budget of around 22k but could possibly go a little hire so was ideally wanting to buy something used rather than some sort of lease etc
  8. Do the dsg gearboxes hold up ok to the power then I assume they must do as they're in Audi R8's etc in some form aren't they. hadnt really considered clutch slip etc but suppose it is a fair bit of power and torque. dont know anything about lease or pcp so don't know where to start apart from google
  9. Is that likely to significantly affect the prices of petrol engined vehicles then ? Haven't really got my finger on the pulse of used vw prices tbh. I would be looking to buy rather than lease it tbh. How are the dsg gearboxes and are they reliable as there seems to be a few people dotted about with expensive faults
  10. Hi, I'm looking for a bit of info on golf r's. I'm seriously considering one as my next vehicle but have a few questions. 1. Is the mk 7 much better than the mk 6 if at all 2. Which engine is in the mk6 and does it have any potential oil consumption problems 3. Are the manual ones any good or is dsg the way to go. Any other helpful information appreciated Thanks in advance
