  1. On the VW UK website when specing a Golf R Estate it definately lists a tow bar in the options. I also found this:-
  2. I'm getting mixed messages about the fitting of a towbar. On the VW site I'm sure it offered a detachable tow bar as an option but when I looked quickly specing out a 2017 R Estate I couldn't find it in the list????
  3. I guess if your happy swapping your Mondeo estate for the Golf R estate the difference cannot be huge interms of boot space unless you don't need the space?. I did some very quick research and on one of the car review sites it gave the volume to be higher in the Golf estate than the mondeo hatch. I do think this could be possible but I guess it depends on the useful shape this gives you. I usually put two adult mountain bike in the mondeo (with rear seats down) and the bikes front wheel removed.
  4. Hi All, I though I'd join up and ask a few questions as I'm seriously thinking about getting myself a golf R estate. I currently own a 2011 mondeo Titanium X Sport, its been a great car no issues nice interior, different exterior looks, 240bhp engine from the focus ST, smooth although not responsive duel clutch gearbox and most important a huge boot. The hunt is on to replace the car and my immediate short list was:- New shape Mondeo ST line 240bhp Audi S4 estate Merc C43 estate. Recently I discovered the Golf R estate and it ticks a lot of the boxes for me but I'm hoping you great people on hear would be able to help me with a few questions to help my decision making process. 1. The golf R estate looks a smaller car to me how will/does it compare to the other cars in terms of boot space and passenger space? 2. Can a tow bar (for a 4 bike rack no caravan) be fitted to the Golf R estate? 3. What are people getting as real world MPG figures? My mondeo does 29.8mpg at best. 4. what is the range on a full tank? 5. I've been advised that running/servicing costs are high with VW what is tyhe service intervals and how much are the servicing charges for 1st, 2nd and 3rd services and the DSG service? 6. If the the size space of the golf R is similar to the other cars would you stick with the Golf R or pay £10K+ more for and S4 etc? Sorry for all the questions guys but I'm hoping with all the knowledge on this forum you can help me with this process! Many Thanks in advance
