Hi everyone
Had a problem with my golf in which the front wheels would basically suffer from axle tramp under hard acceleration, I initially thought it was the Haldex not working
It was due a service so today I took it to the dealers, told reception what the car was suffering from only to be asked if it's chipped, I said no absolutely not
He asked again and he said he has only seen golfs spin their front wheels when they are chipped
I told the guy again, look mate it isn't chipped and the front wheels aren't spinning, the front axle is tramping and vibrating the whole car only under severe acceleration
He disbelieved me and so got the foreman out to go on a test drive with me
I handed him the keys and made him drive, he pulled over and said do you mind if I do a launch control to check the Haldex, I said go for it mate
Next minute all hell broke loose as it launched the front tramped violently and there was almighty bang from under car and transmission tunnel, it clunked like it had snapped a drive shaft, we nursed it back and put it on the lifts in the shop to find the propshaft had sheared clean off the gearbox! It smashed the exhaust and ripped it's mount off
Have any of you guys heard of this before?
It's a 2017 mk7 golf r standard spec
I own a mk5 r32 which is still in the UK and I used to be a very active member on the r32oc, never heard of this happening on any golf before but now I live in Australia and have been off the forums I have lost touch with it all
Just looking for some information from you guys and also share what happens this side of the world!
