  1. Bump* Anyone else ever had this? The revs die on whenever the brake pedal is applied? The discs and pads were changed a week ago, would this be a precaution if they were not bled properly?
  2. Hi all, I've had my little MK4 130pd 6speed GTTDI highline Golf sitting parked up under a cover the past 4 years as I've been away working and couldn't part with it as I love it dearly; and is a pretty clean example. 😘 I've pulled it out of the garage, and gave it a new battery and service. After the car has been running for 5-10mins, and the engine temperature gets up to running temp the engine will not rev at all. The warning light- "ENGINE WORKSHOP" comes on the dash, along with the coil warning light. Would faulty glow plugs cause the engine to not rev? Or could this be another problem? Thanks, any advice would be appreciated! ⬇️ That's her below.
  3. This is the car I'm taking about, really nice looking car. It had 6grand worth of mods bolted on. Interesting me because of the DSG and leather. Tricky one!!
  4. I done a Cazana car history check, it's HPI clear and is Cat S as I said. I take it the cars VW warranty is binned as soon as an independent repair, and performance mods have taken place?
  5. Thanks! This site looks brilliant from what I've seen in the past two days!! Invaluable resource now the forums!! 😎
  6. Ok thanks fellas, I've had the notion of an R in my head ever since I took a test run in one in Edinburgh a few months back. I initially wanted a MK7 GTI but out of curiosity took an R for a blast. Red 15plate DSG 3DR. Absolutely blown away by it. I don't know a great deal about them yet either. I'm looking at a 16plate with 17k miles, £19,000. Has had the front bumper and front wing replaced due to a bump and is category S. Oryx white, 3DR DSG, 17k miles, very clean and a hole bunch of extras bolted on. Would that be a reasonable price?
  7. Hi folks, I'm currently looking at a MK7 R, and I'm not massively knowledgeable on the tuning side of the R yet.. The guy has it described in the ad as being an R300, and it's supposedly sitting at 450bhp. I'll list below the ad spec but can anyone advise if these parts would bring it anywhere near 450bhp, and if its a wise move buying the car due to reliability issues etc. From the ad: VWR Racingline R600 Cold Air Intake Induction Kit VWR Racingline Performance R600 Silicone Hose VWR Racingline Performance R600 Turbo Inlet Elbow Wagner-Tuning Competition Front Mount Intercooler with Silicone Hoses DV PLUS Performance Diverter Valve Full Powervalve Exhaust system from turbo to back boost actuated variable tone 3.0" turbo back system with 200 cell Motorsport cat with ceramic black trims and Heat wrapped Downpipe (£2,294.50) Also what is the R300 about? cheers.
  8. Hi there I'm Gareth, I'm from Fermanagh NI, and I'm a bit of a Golf/BMW enthusiast. My first car was a MK4 1.9tdi 90bhp non pd as I was 17 and it was fairly cheap to insure back in 2009 (black with TT Competitions and Audi pepper pots I had to paint after I lost a bet). I then bought a E36 328i Sport M3 replica with M3 LSD, which i sold, to buy An E36 M3 Evo convertible, which I drove until I bought an E36 M3 Evo coupe which was MINT and sold too cheap back in 2012 going by todays' figures. Meanwhile I'm still using my little black MK4 as my daily to take my to college and back. After selling my M3 Evo I decided to buy an AE86 Corolla as I noticed the value of them rising sharply over here in N.Ireland as young fellas thought they would make a great car for blackening every crossroad junction in the land with donuts. I bought it in the Republic of Ireland back in 2012, and restored it with about 7months of work and quite a couple of G's. The AE86 was a brilliant car, and way before its time (one of my biggest regrets to date was selling the corolla). It handled sweet for a little 80's car, along with that sweet 1600cc twincam engine rasp it was fun and made you look like a drift king! After keeping the AE86 for around 3years and loving every second of it, I sold it for an offer I couldn't refuse. I bought myself a GSXR600 which I rode to work/college for 3 years. Bought myself a mint little silver MK4 130bhp PD GTTDI which I still have under a cover today. I moved to London to work as a Civil Engineer on the underground for 3 years, and a civil engineering project at Luton Airport which lasted 2years. I relocated to Aberdeen to work on the AWPR bypass for the past year to the present. I've been driving my E92 330D M Sport which I bought in London for the past 2 years, to which I'm looking to change in the near future for a MK7 R. Thanks for reading folks, thought I'd share my motors with like minded petrol heads. Cheers!
