I know 90% of all drivers think they're better than average, and of course I am one of those 90%. Having lived in many parts of the country, I do think driving skills are worse in rural Scotland - my theory is that with less traffic there's less pressure to be competent. Two things really annoy me. First is how so many people think indicating is optional. At a roundabout in particular I often have no idea which direction the car in front is going to go.
But what really, really gets my goat are people who hate being overtaken. They tootle along at a low speed, but as soon as you overtake them, they speed up (usually absolutely futile against an R), or they honk their horns and flash their lights and gesticulate, and some even go to the trouble of speeding up to some highly illegal speed to be able to overtake in usually a risky place so that they can get in front of you again, only then to slow right down.
I am usually a gentle man, but such behaviour does occasionally provoke a little silent road rage in me. What are these people like in real life?
