  1. Erm...... had my 6R on 19 Tallys for 2 and a bit years, plus 18s for winter boots to be fair, and did many, many miles to/from work in the Peak District and never had a single issue; I do concede that the roads appeared to be ploughed but still, even hitting holes I could claim mineral rights for didn't crack any Tallys. Have driven the same roads with 19 Prets for a month-ish and they're still showroom condition. Muck notwithstanding.
  2. I've got a set of cheapie 18 alloys for the winter wheels but they're black. Got the 19 Prets with night blue and the colour match is, IMO, stunning. As such, I might get the 18 cheapies redone in said Pret colour... anyone any idea what it might be?
  3. Just drive off and wait to 85-90C oil temp before giving it the full beans.
  4. B*stards!!!!!!!! Even changing the bolts to tri-wing (or even more obtuse) won't really ease matters as the windows and dash will already have been wrecked. Is it illegal to rig the metalwork up to 40kV+ when the car is locked?
  5. Wanna cancel so I can buy it ? Sorry Stubsy, no can do. Been driving it for 3 weeks. Honest, I will put some photos up - but it's bleedin' filthy right now and a touch of man flu meant I couldn't be arsed to wash it this last weekend.
  6. Options for a 7R are easy... 5 doors, Night Blue, DCC, 19" Prets, Nav Pro, Vienna leather, r/view camera, climate screen, adv phone prep, winter pack
  7. Has the S3 suddenly been removed from the VAG stable? I'd have the R over an S3 every time but all this talk about Cupras this and Rs that and how they fit into a range does seem to be ignoring the guys from Ingolstadt.
  8. iPhone? For Nav? I presume the maps aren't the worthless junk they got released with!! The 8" screen on the Nav Pro, IMO, looks a whole load better than either of the other fits. Also allows, in theory, for Car-Net but I'm yet to work out how to get the bloody thing working - even with an old Nokia with rSAP profile support. Anyway, I digress.
  9. Get a second opinion but when researching if my existing winter wheels will fit, I found that the 18" Cadiz were 7.5x18 ET49 and the 19" Pretorias (and Cadiz in Europe) were 8x19 ET50.
  10. This could describe the "salesman"...
  11. Very recently I've driven, enthusiastically it has to be said, through some pretty horrific rain on nice twisty roads to/from work and the 7R has an amazing ability to make the road feel dry. It's like a bleedin' gecko! I'll take that sure footedness EVERY time. The 6R was good at this too but the 7R feels better. And, anyway, why would you want to buy anything from a country where the workforce go to sleep for a few hours every afternoon? Apart from a bit of light TV entertainment on Sundays at 8pm, track tests to prove how good a motor is are about as useful as a chocolate teapot. Last thing you wanna be doing on a twisty B-road is going round a bend with the arse hanging over the centreline. An HGV will soon have the offending parts removed for you.
  12. Hells bells! £150(ish)... that'd cover me for about 5, maybe 6, weeks! I'm 34 but clearly the insurance folk think my postcode is somewhere in downtown Kabul.
  13. No probs. Incompetence needs to be stamped out. Just had a read of the article which was originally referred to, in the mag I should have looked at... I think it's fair to say they like it. Side by side and nose to nose, I think the R is the tidier looking motor.
  14. You know what, you're right! DOH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Christ only knows where that boo-boo came from. I blame a tough day at work. Where's the "f**ked that right up" smilie?
