Do we know if there are any clutches available yet? Mine is desperate for upgrading since my REVO map has destroyed the original!

I have a manual golf r which is revo tuned. After 11,000 miles including 6 track days the clutch developed a significant amount of slip. I have had it replaced but only with a standard clutch as I could not find an uprated one. The clutch has started slipping again at about 4-5k revs. It does not smell and quickly picks up again.I dont think this clutch is made for all this extra power. It cost me £1400 to put a new clutch and flywheel in and now its slipping again and Im going mental! Does anybody know of any uprated clutches for the mk7 r?

Earlier this month I was at Silverstone for a trackday. There was some serious machinery there and we had loads of fun in the golf! Its run by open track who I have never used before but its a great price and includes instruction, food and drink!

Toyo have just released the new R88R tyre which looks amazing too. Im not too bothered about mileage just want the best road legal grip.

Interested to hear your opinion on which tyre you think would be best for track days? Does anybody run the Michelin pilot sport cup 2?

Hit the nail on the head there. Im not in a position where I can afford to have a separate track car, especially one that is as fast as the R. Mines got a revo stage 1 and alcon 4 pot mono's so Im looking at ways upgrade it for track use. Ive been looking at KW coilovers but I dont want to ruin the ride on the road.

This just got me thinking.... Which side of the engine is the oil pick up on?

Thanks for the reply. Sounds awesome! I think a baffled sump would probably be sensible if going down the slick route. I dont think anyone produces these at the moment though. Unless anyone knows somewhere?

Thanks for the replies guys. I will be doing mainly circuit days, hoping to get to silverstone, Croft, Cadwell, Spa etc.... Im running Yokohama AD08R's at the minute which are good (in both dry and wet) but just wondered what slick tyre grip level must be like! I am also upgrading the suspension to the KW DDC kit as well as replacing the arb's. Anybody know where you can get them for the R?

Do you know if it would be possible to use slick tyres without causing any problems? I'm planning on doing quite a few track days this year but I've been reading and worrying about oil surge. I would be interested to learn off anybody with any knowelege or experience of using slick tyres. Thanks in advance Roadrunner beep beep!!

Been a busy weekend so apologies for lack of response. Tyres - tyres were fine, lowered the pressures down so that they were about 40 psi hot. Insurance - didnt bother with insurance. plenty of run off in most parts at croft. Just had to watch out for others sliding around! Traction control/ESP - Ran it most of the time with just the traction control off and the esp on. 4 wheel powerslide out of some corners felt amazing and with so much confidence you can see how early you can get on the power. A lot of people at the circuit were coming over to ask about the car and were amazed at the performance!

Sorry man my bad. Thanks for the advice. Ive got the tyres fitted now and initial impressions are good! Croft track day on friday to give them some real hammer!

Yeah I ordered them from there and they are getting fitted as we speak. Cant wait to take it for a spin later!
