My MK7 Golf R is going to need a complete engine swap out since it had catastrophic failure the other week. Unfortunately im struggling to find anywhere that will be able to supply an engine and is actually willing to fit it. Im after recommendations for good garages that would do a proper job, ideally from people that may of had this work done previously or know someone who has had it done. Any help or suggestions would be very appreciated

Its not looking good....... Oil levels were checked and were good, before and after noise. Car has been well serviced and mileage isnt even high... im at a loss to how this has happened

Hi all. Noticed a knocking sound coming from engine today which sorta just came from nowhere as i was driving to work this morning. I did an engine oil change and spark plug change yesterday with 0 issues. Ran the car about for around 40 minutes with everything looking normal with no issues... up until i was about to pull into work and noticed a nasty stutter from the engine at low RMP. Had the car running and even in idle it sounds awful. My first thought would be an issue with the spark plugs that i just put in but i don't understand why there was no issue to begin with, only after 40+ minutes of driving. If im not mistaken the launch issue only seemed to be happening with the earlier models e.g 2015 plates. Im guessing yours is a newer model ? No doubt Mountune are having a hard time dealing with these issues since cobb is no longer any help in fixing it.

Exact same boat as me mate. Ive even sent a separate follow-up email about the progress of the return request but still have had no response to any. Been over two weeks now and i dont know what to do from here.

Nothing at all 🤷‍♂️ Also nothing heard from my refund request either.

Ive just submitted a returns request for the Stage 1 power upgrade kit. They only give you a tiny box to write out the issue so i can imagine this wont go through without a lot of back and forth. Also having already used the upgrade on my car will most likely cause issues with trying to get money back. Has anyone got any experience with getting a refund for this sorta thing ?

Any update lads ? Ive heard nothing at all.

Ive still not had a response back from mountune and im guessing they are just waiting until cobb gives them another file to play with 😒

Im honestly baffled over the clear lack of communication between Mountune and Cobb. Why are we being told that this is a fix when it doesn't seem to have helped with anyone's issues. This is getting ridiculous with how long its taken and we still dont have a solution. + Considering Mountunes stage 1 is being sold at a premium price compared to the others available. At this point id rather just get my money back and move on. Ive emailed them again but im just expecting another few weeks of not hearing any response. Thanks for keeping this thread active with ur guys progress, its good to know where we all stand 👍

Im guessing this fixed the launch control issue for you ? I flashed the 2.01 file and there was no change to mine Did you completely remove and then reinstall the handset to your car or did you simply just change to the 2.01 file ?

Good news, Just received this email from Mountune this morning : Going to try this when i get home, fingers crossed it actually works.

I'm also still waiting on a response to my message about letting them know that their "fix" didn't work. They replied same day the first time i got in contact about it but now I've not heard anything for almost a week. Maybe i shouldn't of mentioned about a refund 🤣 Im going to phone them about it and chase it up.

Updated handset firmware and upgraded the ECU to the new stage 1 version 1.08 that they provided. Had no change or improvement to the launch control issue. Do mountune offer refunds 😒

Correct, yeah mine is a 2015 plate. *Update* I called mountune about the problem and they told me i had to send an email to info@mountune.com with all the details of the car + handset and the issues that i was facing. I got a reply back the same day which said : Im going to update the handset firmware tonight and then install the stage one back onto the car. Wish me luck.

Im having the same issue it seems. I was able to launch the car no problem before i upgraded to TCU + ECU stage 1. The car just wont hold the revs up when trying to launch and sorta just goes limp. Ive taken off both the tunes and am going to test if launching still works completely stock tomorrow. Is it worth contacting mountune for a solution or just wait it out ?
