Friend of mine got this sorted out by having the workshop reflash the whole unit again. He's good ever since, except his display died on him a couple days ago lol. The software is such a nightmare on cars these days, my AreaView started working out of blue skies again. It's good to keep the setting to book your car for workshops in the app, they keep getting spammed by the car asking for service.

Area View stopped working on my R. Came to workshop immediately and they say there is TPI for that kind of fault and is software related. In case anyone ever cross this issue, I’ve already lost words in terms of software issues in my 8.5 R

Feels good to be back! As an replacement car I got a 1.5 eTSI from the dealership, I can definitely admit that my travel costs were much lower than with the R. 😁

It took less time than I anticipated and the R is back! Sadly the list of parts which got replaced is longer than I'm willing to admit haha, even the Akrap is replaced as whole and I'm back on the start with the exhaust sound haha.

Yes I’m very okay, situations like this happen but they can be easily avoided by watching the damn traffic in front of you That’s Peugeot 3008, sadly no front assist as you can see haha thank you Rebecca, the car is towed now to the dealership and it’s up to them where do we go from here.

FYI There is a new Shop OTA update, someone willing to try some trial in the shop after updating it? 🤪

For anymore who wants to feed the theory of reason for the bong fests. My friend is experiencing them just now, right when his trial of Navi expired. I said it guys, the shop is poisoned! 🫡

I’m definitely not touching Shop icon ever again. 😇

On the other side of the news, since the latest OTA update which did something to the 'System extensions' part of the infotainment I haven't experienced a single bong fest. That's like month now, so fingers crossed it's gone for good!

Don’t get me wrong I still love the car and tbh I’m not convinced the situation is better at different VAG or non-VAG brands. I got compensated by VW for my turbo breakdown after 1300km and months time wait for new one - they invited me to the R driving experience to Most. It was a great experience, we drove the 8.5 R Variant / T-Roc R and had a drifting course with the 8.5 R Hatch.

Unfortunately video is not enough for dealer, they have to replicate it.

Update on my error bongs, as I drove over 800 miles recently. On the way to the destination about halfway i got the usual “Cannot show the total distance, please initiate selfdestruction”, but it wasn’t followed by the “let me show you all the errors I know” bongs. Just my driving modes disappeared again. Driving each day at the destination produced a new error for me: “Oil system is faulty, please visit workshop” - weirdly it did not disappear with any restarts but after opening “oil level” menu in the infotainment it was gone. 400 miles back home were flawless not even a single error, I expected the error fireworks to start at the gas station, but nothing. therefore I’m clueless about how to trigger it to finally get it sorted out at dealership. 🥶

It is a tinfoil theory, but my issues started as well since I've activated the trials for those features.

Unfortunately yes, for few months now. It happens at least once in a month, it starts usually during a longer drive with error “unable to show total distance” then all the other 15 errors pop up. Sometimes the rear windows pull down 20%, and if you pull them up they will go down again. After giving the car break for few minutes it reset itself, but the driving modes are missing or the engine warning stays (but its gone after few drives again) I swear it always occurs for me when I’m far away from the dealership or its already closed and as other mentioned the errors wont stay in the vcds history, it’s frustrating as hell.

Mine did the same and the engine warning stays on now, will try to get into dealer as soon as possible.

That’s what mine does at least once in a month, keep us posted!

I get this once in a while as well, hopefully just software bug which will be fixed with update.

It won’t go away, my windows does this at least once in month. It’s the most annoying thing ever.
