  1. Thanks for reply all. The squeal is at very low speed, just when finally stopping. I'll check again as per above advice and if it happens in reverse which I hadn't registered until I read above. I'm not concerned for any issue, it's just annoying and now I'm fixed on hearing it every time I stop! Might just call the dealer at some point if continues. Niggles, a pain and shouldn't really be just accepted, especially the price we pay nowadays. I'll go over the car with a another fine tooth comb. VW were very good at detailing the car post delivery as we had a storm in Aberdeen days before I picked up the car and it was clear a tree branch or something hit the roof and bounced, leaving 3 or 4 very noticeable scratches on the roof. They took the car back in after a week and fully detailed it, buffing out the scratches. Very attentive, very pleased with the result, so hopefully they'll not be too aggrieved as I roll back into the dealership!
  2. Hi all. I'm 4/5 weeks into ownership of the 8.5 R, about 800 miles covered. I have a low speed squeal from the brakes, usually just as I come to a halt. Thought at first it was just new pads and discs bedding in and attempted the tried and tested routine of a couple of hard braking attempts, but the squeal is still there and might just be me, but sounds like it's getting worse. Anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions? I know it's there, but it pricks my spidey senses every time, thinking something else is going on.
  3. Thanks to @AHG and @dv52 for their quick responses and instructions. Dipped passenger mirror adjustment completed successfully.
  4. It's L for me, UK. Only dips with switch in passenger location, so L or R dependent on location, but I think I got what he meant. Trial and error anyway!
  5. Superb. Thanks for the detail Don. Will report back once attempted.
  6. Thanks sir. Will give this a bash along with the extended advice from Don.
  7. Hi all. I took delivery of my 8.5R last week and I can't seem to find if there's an adjustment to lower the dipping passenger mirror further when in reverse. It seems to just dip slightly. Is that it? No more configuration available?
  8. On the discussion off SUV versus estate, coming from a current X3M, they are wonderful machines. They do it all with regards to carrying passengers, pets, plenty load space for all manner of carrying tasks and tip runs. With the X3M, the performance is outrageous, especially in a straight line! With the configurable ride settings, they can keep up with most things, but with weight and height, they lose out on the twisty roads. Ride quality is compromised on 21" rims too and can be claimed to be crashy on most surfaces. I'd have a Macan GTS any day of the week however, but pricing is crazy on these vehicles. I considered a M3 Touring as the do it all machine, but again, pricing is insane, even with the BMW discount. Kept coming back to the R as the "swiss army knife". Glad I finally made the decision and put the order down. Tow hitch for eMTB lugging duties and for potential trailer for tip runs, means you don't need an estate these days. Hatchback for me all day!
  9. Just had video message update from my dealer and the car is built and preparing to ship to port. I did reply that email from VW confirmed date for build start is 18th June, so still need to understand if they're ahead or if wires crossed at dealers! Anyway, delivery is getting closer day by day.
  10. Hi all. New member, long time lurker. Ordered a new build 8.5 R BE on 26/04 and have confirmed build start date of 18/06, so hopefully it'll be ready for me to pick up end of July or start August. Despite the main dealer horror stories you read, VW Aberdeen were very attentive and matched my DTD offer on first request. I've previously had a 7.5 GTI for a couple of years which was superb, but recent car to go will be the BMW X3M Competition. A superb machine, but don't need something so big, nor the M tax for parts and servicing. Anyway, the spec.... Lapiz Blue Warmenau alloys Winter Pack Folding trailer hitch Head-up display Area view including rear view camera Harman Kardon Curtain & Side airbags Tilting & sliding sunroof Adaptive DCC Tried to order LED animated extend indicator things, but VW couldn't apply separately on their system. Then went back to DTD and couldn't spec there. Waiting to see if included, but certainly no deal breaker. VW will arrange Service Plan separately. Hummed and heyed about leather, but the wife has the cloth/alcantara in her M135i and it's very good. Seats heat up quicker than on the leather as well! And I won't get anyone started on the Akra exhaust. Just way too much for a shiny lum! I like the look of the black tips anyway. Have read with intertest the things to check on pick up or prior to, so that's been very useful. Really looking forward to the car. Be good to be back in a car and not a SUV. I certainly have enjoyed the country roads by me in the M135i, so the R should be better still.
