Sorry to hear that, only issue I’ve had was my Bluetooth kept disconnecting, but since the software update I’ve had done at the dealer for the power steering recall, it seems to have fixed it thankfully, it still drops out a bit in car parks though when going through boom gates?

Just had my first service and PV4 software update for the power steering recall here in Oz, all went well with no faults found, update worked first go so I had my car back the same day, don’t know if this was a ‘bug fix’ in the update or not but my Apple car Play Bluetooth connection is fixed, over a week since it was done and not a single drop out yet?! Used to do it at least twice every time I drove it and it was frustrating, so I’m pretty happy it’s all sorted😊

Yes it’s a recall for the power steering, all Golf, Tiguan and Tayron vehicles built between Oct 24 - Oct 25..

I’m in Oz and my car is going back to the dealer soon for this power steering recall, they said it’ll take all day and possibly the next if the update fails the first day? Is this the PV4 update everyone is talking about? Does it fix other bugs as well?

It’s CarPlay that drops out, haven’t tried turning the WiFi off yet but I’ll give it a go and see if it improves?

Yes it’s wireless, BT drops in and out in car parks and through boom gates? Underground car parks and I can lose it completly? Never had this problem with any other car I’ve had?

Yes I’ve had some problems with mine, car play drops out and reconnects at least once every time I drive it, and for some reason it hates underground car parks and boom gates, this is the worst Bluetooth I’ve had in any car I’ve owned?

Thanks for the tips guys, I might just leave it for now and hope it improves? They say time is a good healer lol, apart from the creaking windows and the way over the top parking sensors, my car has been perfect, had it for nearly a year now and I love it to bits..

No these aren’t quiet cars, the problem in mine is the creaking around the windows? kind of sounds like they’re loose or twisting? I’ve seen another thread with this problem and people have used silicon spray or adjusted the door strike, haven’t tried it yet, this is my first VW so I’m not sure this is a common problem with there cars? At least I know where the rattle is though, my previous Fiesta ST had a rattle that I could never pin point? I think you’d have to be pretty lucky to buy a car that never gets a single rattle?

Yeh It’s an early post run in change, I’ve got around 7500km on it, whatever that is in miles? I’m just going to leave it..

Yes that’s what I thought, probably a safer bet just to leave it alone? Everything I’m using are all genuine VW parts as well including the oil, I’ve got a VW parts shop just around the corner from me which is convenient, thanks for that..

Just a question? I’m doing an oil change this weekend, do I reset the ‘oil service reminder’ as well? Because the next service the dealer will do it and they’ll see I’ve done an oil change myself, is that a good thing or bad thing in terms of warranty issues?

Well I use Apple car play so I’m sure it’s not Apple or Android causing it? Just not a very good Bluetooth, maybe a software update could improve it?

The Bluetooth is the biggest problem I have with this car and I’m surprised this doesn’t get mentioned very much? It drops out at least once every drive, reconnects straight away tho but it’s still annoying when yr on a call, every time I go into a car park it drops in and out, every time I go through a boom gate it drops out, it’s the worst Bluetooth I’ve had in any car, I’m hoping it’s something they can fix?

Could you call something like this a warranty issue and get the dealer to fix it?

Yes that’s exactly what happens in mine, the arm rest/trim at the bottom of the window, if I hold it down it’s stops creaking, it’s annoying because it’s happening on other doors as well..

Mine are the windows, when I push against it the creaking stops, it’s like they’re loose or something? Couldn’t be that hard to fix could it?

Not sure if rattles qualify as ‘Gremlins’? But I get these creaking sounds around my windows, almost like they’re kind of loose? It’s not a huge deal but I’d like to fix it if I could? Is this normal for Golfs, anyone else have this or any other kinds of rattles?

When I picked my car up at the dealer, I asked the VW technician who was showing me around the car about running in periods? He said they’ve received no guidance from VW on this at all? he said these engines are run in from factory, he said drive it like you stole it lol, just for peace of mind though I still took it easy and didn’t really cut her loose till after 1500km..

Spiders are more of a problem here in winter when they’re escaping the cold, and it’s usually Huntsmen spiders? These can’t kill you like nasty funnel webs can but they’re big and hairy and they like to make they’re presence known when you’re travelling at speed on a busy freeway, trick is to stay calm but it ain’t easy? lol

Totally agree, software problems have been a nightmare for OEMs and is the main cause for all these issues, they’ve been trying to turn cars into laptops on wheels, something nobody asked for? they need to get back to basics and stop over thinking things, the more tech they shove in the more problems they’ll have, I’d be happy to ditch the big infotainment screen for a simple radio and knobs..

What car brands now are what they used to be though? I mean look at Ford, they’ve been a disaster, something like 88 recalls for the first half of the year, they’re headed for over 100 lol, VW had only around 17 in the same period by comparison, so not too bad, even the mighty Toyota, look at the engine recalls they’ve had? And I’m talking about full engine replacements, same for GM, I could give examples with all of them, all I’m saying is the grass is not always greener else where? As for my Golf R I couldn’t be happier, I love this car..

Had the car for about a month now and I’m absolutely in love with it, mechanically it hasn’t skipped a beat, only blip I have is the Bluetooth, it disconnects at least once every time I drive it, now it reconnects again basically straight away, but still kind of annoying, the weird one though is when I’m in car parks, or places with bad reception, it doesn’t disconnect but it drops in and out like I’m in a bad reception? Even when I’m listening to my own music, it shouldn’t need reception, I thought Bluetooth is isolated within the car? Is this something that’s fixable?
