I've had android auto/car play issues since day one. Been into VW multiple times to get them to look at. Started off with can't replicate it - well it is intermittent. Last time it was in they said they needed to do the PV4 update will fix it. Collected car and phone wouldn't connect. Booked it in again and then was told after sitting down for a coffee while I waited for my lift and they came and give me my keys back saying VW are aware of this issue and basically I have to put up with it until they release a new software update which they expect will be in Q4 this year. Rang up finance that day and opened a complaint to return the car. Sick of it. Paid way too much money for this car to not know if my phone is going to connect to it when I get in. On top of that PV4 removed my OBD11 patches to remove the lane assistance and speed warning so now have to turn them off every time I get in the car.

Yes I used one click apps for both settings, I believe one was £20 and one was £50. I no longer have the OBD11 dongle so can't program the car again. If they ever crack SFD2 protection then i'll probably buy one again but for now I have no need for it. I programmed the remember last setting on my old golf GTD and my other half's Cupra Leon which was easy enough but there was no way to do that with the R at the time. Anyway, took the car out today, initially Android Auto worked for about one minute then disconnected. Went to shop, didn't work when I got back in the car, went to my daughters and did work on the way home but this is ridiculous. If I connect the phone up via USB it works so it looks like this is a Wifi issue as even when AA doesn't work I can call people handsfree through car and even stream bluetooth music through car. Gonna put a complaint in with VW on Monday and with the garage I bought it from (JCT600 from Sheffield - it was a DriveTheDeal car) It's been like this from day one but as its basically my weekend car i've let it slide but I don't see why I should for the amount of money this cost.

So my cars been back into VW Durham for the Android Auto issues (again). They do the PV4 update to it and say its now fixed. Get in my car....Phone won't connect. Ask the guy manning the car park if he could get the technician out that looked at my car and shortly after he came out. He then proceeded to not be able to connect his phone to my car despite saying he tested it after the update and it worked fine. Anyway after much messing around finally got it connected but I have 100% confidence it will happen again, after all a stopped clock is right twice a day. He said he would raise it with VW but said he has no idea why it intermittently will not connect and they have no idea what's causing it. One other thing the PV4 update has done is remove the Lane Assist and Speed warning fix that I did to it when I still had the OBD11 dongle which cost me £70 in credits. So now i'll have to switch these off every time I get in the car again. Annoying. Haven't been out in the car since getting back but will be going back out tomorrow. Let's see what happens.

Both options selected, phone works fine with other car. Problem is with my Golf.

So i've had issues with Android Auto not working since day one. 2025 Black Edition picked up 1st March 2025. Been into my local garage quite a few times, "not able to replicate it". Looking in this forum seems like loads of people are having same issue. My R is a weekend car so only has about 7k on it. Have zero issues with Android auto on my other car nor did I have any issues with my Mk8 GTD or Mk7.5 GTD. Recently upgraded my phone from Galaxy S25 Ultra to S26 Ultra and same issue. Sometimes it just won't connect at all, sometimes Android auto connects, you get the maps on the screen and youtube music shows the track its supposed to be playing but there's no audio. Sometimes I just get a black screen. Most of the time when I first get in the car it works, but say I go in a shop to buy something and get back in the car, probably 3 times out of 4 I am unable to reconnect the phone. Then next time it works again. So random. Got loads of videos on my phone of this happening but every time I go in, get fobbed off. Nearly 50k for a car without a fully working head unit, its an absolute joke.
