Hi folks, I've dreamed of owning a Golf R for over a decade, I'm sure you can relate to how happy I was the day I got my 2018 MK7.5! While the car is nearly perfect, there is one glaring and concerning mechanical issue which is affecting many owners. The issue is a hard 2-3 shift when the car is in fully manual mode (lever knocked to right in North America, left in UK) shifting between 3-5K RPMs with 20%+ throttle applied. The shift is so hard you can feel a good knock in the gas pedal and sometimes it gets so bad you can hear a bang noise! I have searched the internet for 6 months about this issue and I've read at least 20 other accounts from other owners with the same exact issue. This being said, I'd like to collect more data on this issue as remedying this problem would literaly make this the car I dreamed of! I'm asking owners of MK7.5 DGS, especially model year 2019, to please try and reproduce the issue being careful to follow these steps: Enter Normal driving mode Put car in full manual mode Change to 2nd gear Accelerate to 3.5K rpm using 30% throttle As you pass 3.5K rpm, shift up to 3rd gear Report: did you feel the bang in the pedal or even hear it? If this gets traction, and we do this in a controlled manner, I will at least have data to share with VAG on this. If I get good data, I intend to do just this and I have a few clever tricks that might help us get noticed at the top... PS: I am campaigning for us and as such you may see this post copied and pasted on all VW forums, it's my attempt to reach the biggest audience possible. Please help a brother out TL;DR - Please perform steps 1-6 above and report back if you have a 2018/19 R w/ DSG
