Hello All I have had a 2019 plate VW Golf R line for around 6 months. Bought at 16000 miles now has close to 20000. Last week after returning from holiday, the engine struggled to start and I recieved the "error start/stop" in the central cluster, along with the "EPC" light on and an icon replacing the total millage. This happens around 30% of the time when the engine is started. I took it to VW as it is under warranty and they informed me that the battery would need replacing as it is low, for an eye watering £430. I have sourced and fitted a new battery today (at a much cheaper price) however the error still persists. Does anyone know what might be the problem? Someone at my work has an OBD11 so I will ask them to scan for any codes tomorrow. Keen to get this issue sorted as I start a new job on Monday and I dont want to be having time off to get my car in at the garage. I have attached an image of the cluster when the error is active.
