RNS510 Bluetooth controls issue

Hi, I've recently retrofitted a 9W7 Bluetooth module into my car however when I stream music via my phone it will display one of two screens. One is where the controls and track title are displayed but no audio is played into the car and the second is where the music plays but without any controls or track title.

Working but no audio.

Details

  • RNS510 - Revision C, HW: H41, SW: 2720 - not updated
  • 9W7 BT - 5K0 035 730 E, Software 2902

I've had a look on google and found out that for the 9W7 module needs to be connected to a revision E RNS510 to have AVRCP. Now my question is do I need to buy a new revision E head unit or can I update the firmware/software to the newer or newest version?

Hi pierce, recently purchased a jap import Mk6 golf r the head unit is all in Japanese although I can change the language to English but nav is still Japanese and also the radio band doesn't go above 90fm. There is also no audio from any source. Do you know a way of updating region and firmware to possibly resolve this issue. Thanks

I've fixed the issue, decided to download the firmware and and update it. I used v5238.

Hi pierce,

Sorry to dig up an old thread! I'm planning to fit the same 5K0 035 730 E (SW 2902) in my car with an RNS-510, and I came across your post.

After updating to 5238, did everything work at the same time — audio, track title and skip/pause from the RNS?

Thanks a lot!
