  1. You do realise the new TTRS does 0 - 60 in low 3’s and the 1/4 mile in the mid 11 secs? I’d be inclined to believe his excuses if you beat him by 1.1 secs on the 1/4 mile ha ha ha ha
  2. My last 5 cars in reverse order have been, 2015 E63s, C63 performance pack, 8V RS3, A45 AMG, M135i. If if I had to have one car back out the lot of them? It would be RS3 hands down. Mot had 90% of the noise of the bog engined Mercs but with 100% the usability. I loved the interior, loved the noise, loved the launches and the engine was great! It’s a proper hot hatch that ticks all the boxes, the facelift gets great reviews for its handling TIff Nedell did a comparison against the Golf R estate, RS3 and the M140i and they all praised the handling of the RS3 over the other two. Tuning on the facelift is crazy, 500bhp with basic bolt ons, my only critisism of the RS3 was the bloody squeaky brakes. The RS3 gets critisised in price a lot but the fact is if you want to go faster than an RS3 in all weathers down a B road in a car that’s brand new with full 3 years dealer warranty you’d need to add at least another 20-30k to the price of an RS3 to do that, you can’t really compare new VS used prices for ‘what you could get for 50k instead’ comparisons. Most cars are financed, a new APR 50k car vs a used APR 50k car will be hugely different on monthly payments.
  3. I went from a performance pack C63 to 2015 E63 and I’d say the C63 wasn’t too bad at all, nowhere near as bad as people made out it gripped pretty well unless wet. As for Golf R vs C63, I have a work college who lives a few roads away from me with a 2015 S3 and and we do the same commute each day and used to muck about all the time, granted mine was a performance pack so around 470 bhp, off the roundabouts the S3 would be nailing it while I had to feather a bit. Once on the motorway though I toyed with him, once that 6.2 gets in its stride there was no chance he was keeping up, I doubt even a stage 1 golf R would keep up. The E63 though was better in every way, anyone looking at the C63 look at early examples of the E63 facelift, very similar money but way better.
  4. Wonder if the Golf R 400 will be revived (spy shots testing) with the facelift engine? Would be exciting if it did. APR have released a tune for the RS3 facelift and posted times, standard Saloon 11.85 1/4 mile, stripped out and stage 1 is 10.5 secs 1/4 mile at around 127 mph, stage 1 full weight is near dead 11’s. Put it in a car that can actually handle well and what a recipe that would make.
  5. I'd say the golf probably finished were it should have with the power it had, still shows what a few quid spent on a hit hatch can do to cars like the panamera and Aston which cost about 3 times as much
  6. So 34k for a DSG 5 door then add a 3k exhaust, then £2,300 pack to make it around 39.5k then add other decent options such as upgraded audio and nav, maybe a couple of not so important options and your at 45k, in the expensive tax bracket and bang on the money for the new RS3 8v facelift which will sound a million times better and with 400 bhp go a lot better aswell, madness
  7. What about people that have pre ordered the new RS3 hatch? Said to be 45k now which is a fair old jump on the pre facelift and then there's the new tax, they better had chucked some decent options in for free or your looking at well over 50k with some must haves
  8. Agree, most of these 'I just bought and XYZ supercar' videos are just tossers that have been given a car by a dealership for a week in return for some publicity.
  9. TTRS VS M140i which is probabaly the fastest hatch once rolling out at the moment.
  10. The RS3 8v is faster than the A45 AMG but the TTRS is WAY faster than the RS3 8v the Vbox times are suggesting it's even quicker than a stage 2 RS3 8v, 3.4 secs to 60 mph and mid to high 7 seconds to 100 mph which is RS6 sort of territory never mind A45/RS3 territory. The tune on the A45 is way over estimated, having owned a stage 1 A45 from rebellion and a stock RS3 8v and fro what I've seen other A45's pull on dyno's from rebellion I've seen a tuned, dowpiped and cat backed A45 pull just over 400 bhp not anywhere near 450 bhp lol
  11. There's no way Archie Hamiltons A45 AMG is 450 bhp if it is tuned by rebellion but still it's faster than stock and just look at the way the TTRS walks away that is one fast car!
  12. It's not quite as simple as the price diffeence suggests for eg add DSG, upgraded alloys and seats and 4 doors to get the gold R on par with the A45 and the price gap closes quickly, agree though that after owning a stage 1 A45 and then an RS3 8V the audi is better in every department as a daily car and it's noise can't be bettered in any other hot hatch IMO
  13. A 1000cc sports bike would be easily pulling on a veryron till high 100's mph so unless he's got some sort of mutant golf R then I'd say it was probably the rider not really up for it
  14. Don't forget the R doesn't have a higher car to answer to but the S3 does ie the RS3 so I suspect the engineers could go a little further with the R than they did with the S3 because they haven't got anything bigger up the hirechy to upset, the R does seem to always post better track times and get better driver reviews but from what I've seen on timing slips the S3 is no slower in a straight line though I think the S3 may even be lighter than the R if I remember correctly.
  15. Don't doubt it but I've not seen a bad review of the megane sport from a drivers perspective and at 24k it's at least 6k cheaper than the Golf R or Cupra and 16k cheaper than the RS3, can't argue with those figures.
  16. I think realistic went out the window with this thread about 261 pages ago lol
  17. If driving pleasure was my sole aim I wouldn't have chosen an RS3 or R there's far better cars for that than either and at far cheaper prices, a little while ago you could pick up a megane sport 275-S for 24k!!! Now that is a bargin
  18. Been discussed about 6 times lol it's the only review I've seen the golf being faster. I keep hearing that the Golf R is faster 'day to day' or 'A-B' what does that actually mean? People are talking as if the RS3 is RWD or 400kg heavier or something lol it grips just aswell, changes gear just as well, has far more torque available even lower down the Rev range, just as good throttle response and bags more BHP. I don't know about anyone else but I live in the garden of England (Kent) and most of my driving is dual carriageways, and A roads perfect ground for the RS3. There was a good article a few years back that showed a GTR couldnt get away from a mk2 focus RS and in turn a clio spelt could keep up with the focus RS of the roads where tight enough not to allow the extra power to show, lets face it if the roads are that tight anyone driving very fast is quite frankly a penis so on the limit handling on proper B roads is more or less wasted as is big power advantages.
  19. Put Sabine in any of the other cars though, that was my point a slower car can be faster than a faster car with the right driver but it doesn't make that slower car faster it just means your a better driver lol
  20. There's been several dyno days on the RS3 forum on all sorts of different dyno's and the MK2 RS3 makes way more than standard power there's two or three over there that have seen 400-405 bhp on at least two occasions the average is around 380-390 bhp. There's a decent difference between the mk1 and mk2 RS3's trust me And then a mid range pull between golf R mk7 and standard RS3 mk1
  21. Why in everyday driving would the R be quicker? The RS3 has more power everywhere in the range and more torque, most of them put out nearly 400 BHP as standard, a standard RS3 8v is about as a fast as a stage 1 RS3 mk1 and a standard RS3 mk1 is faster in a straight line than a standard Golf R so you can see there's quite a difference in performance from an RS3 8v and golf R, the S3 8v is near as identically as fast as a golf R do you think Audi would make the S3 the same level of performance as the RS3? Standard RS3's put in nearly 12 second dead 1/4 miles, 0-60's are anywhere between 3.6 and 3.9 secs, and trap about 6 mph higher than standard golf R's not to mention almost always putting in faster lap times, not sure why people find it so hard on here to admit there is a faster day to day hatchback on the roads than the golf R ha ha ha Another track review, this time the golf R wagon, 2 secs slower than the RS3 and strangely the race driver talks about understeer in the R but not in the RS3 lol https://www.wheelsmag.com.au/reviews/car-comparisons/1601/commodore-ss-v-redline-v-audi-rs3-v-bmw-m135i-v-mercedes-amg-a45-v-mini-jcw-v-renaultsport-megane-v-vw-golf-r-comparison-review Also Randy pobst for motor trend "Into the corner, when driven at the limit, the Golf R understeers a lot,†Motor 1.com "The Golf R sometimes falters when diving into a corner and then launching itself out. Depending on the corner, you can get a fair amount of understeer."
  22. A track test probably has far less variables than what someone has seen on the road, doesn't matter wether sheddon is a pro people are talking about what the car is capable of and the fact it supposedly massively understeers. When in the hands of decent drivers in the auto trader and top gear tests the 'nose heavy' 'understeery' RS3 is only second to the A45 and focus RS in one test buy a couple of tenths and in the other is faster than all the others including track focused cars like megane 265 and new type R.
