Well, I had to drive to Scotland last week (260 miles each way) and had issues repeatedly on both driving up and down. When your windows keep doing down while driving down the motorway, at first is funny, but after 15-20 times of closing them to have them open again was frustrating. Had bong fest on the way up, on the way back down was only the windows and pings of unable to display total mileage and the bong of Drive System error please visit workshop. Car goes in for its first service in 3 weeks.. tempted to say dont give it back to me until this is all fixed!! I feel a complaint to VW Customer Services brewing....

I had a close call the other week, where the emergency collision kicked in, as the car tried to stop and the seat belts tightened up even though I was absolutely in control.. since then I've had 3 journeys and none went without issues. One had the rear windows coming down while driving, other the bong of cant display total mileage, other stop/start not working, front assist not working.... car is coming up for its first service so I have booked that in for November and highlighted this! Are others still having these kinds of issues??

Well, I've largely been driving VWs for 20 years, Golf, Jetta, Scirocco's and all without faults... so for the moment, I am willing to give them some more time to sort these issues out. I love the car other than these inconvenient faults, will see what their Customer Services say.

Well, after it went in and everything was reset I had a drive down to London on Saturday. Half way down the M1 it pinged 4 times about not being able to show total distance and please attend workshop. Then just as I hit the M25 the rear windows started coming down and doors locking/unlocking.... oh the fun and shock at 70 miles an hour with that suddenly happening! Will get the car back in and phone VW Customer Services this time as it was just a pain driving around the M25 winding the windows back up 20 times.

Well, Rolf went in yesterday and they connected it up and checked everything... no obvious faults, though the car did log a Crash Protection activation twice.. hence the doors unlocking and windows coming down. There has been no technical bulletins or updates for the car so was nothing more they can do. They just said to monitor it and if it happens again get it back in for them to take a look and escalate further to VW. Should we think about some sort of class action/complaint on this one?? 😆😆 One other pattern that I just realised is when I fill Rolf up, I use Esso and the app to pay, so I don't actually leave or lock the car, I stop the engine, open driver door and leave it open, then get back in and start up and drive away. Twice now the car did pingfest when I got back in..... anyone else getting that?

I did install the Dynamic Lighting and activated the free trial... this was back in December.. and I have to say I don't recall having the errors before that got activated... I did just let the trial end...... so perhaps its VW getting me back for not buying it!! 😆 Will keep you all posted after it goes in Thursday!!

Yep, I've had that a few times now where no driving modes are available other than Comfort... normally I get that for a few drives after the 15 error messages that seem to kick off randomly aswell as the rear windows winding down on their own. One trip the central locking kept locking and unlocking the doors. I also get please start the engine manually when at lights after the stop/start stops working, auto hold disabled..... engine warning light on with no other errors then dissapears.... lets hope it is all just sofware bugs!! My car finally goes in on thurs next week for diagnostics!!

Had a long drive back on Sunday and the car did the same, about 30 mins from home, ping, ping, ping, everything not working... plus rear windows kept going down and the central locking kept locking and unlocking... definitely some gremlins in there, or maybe a poltergheist! Going to get it booked in now for a checkup!!

Funnily enough just had an email from VW Connect/Vertu Customer Services saying they have been advised my car may need a service!! lol Luckilly started up this morning fine but still had the engine light on for the morning trip. Has since gone out and everything seems fine... but this is the second time its happened to me.

Morning all... had an issue this morning when driving to work, was at lights, start/stop had kicked in and engine was off... pressed accelerator to pull away and nothing... several presses and eventually it pinged and said Error - Start Engine Manually... stopped/started engine and it errored saying needed to visit workshop. Turned off Stop/Start for the rest of the journey to work but had the Error warnings all the way. Grabbed a costa at the coop and after getting back in the car started fine, no errors, all clear. VW app reports no errors too. Will keep eye on it I suppose!

Keep having issues with the app and it telling me the car is unlocked even though it is not unlocked!! Also, came back from a 160 mile drive up the M1... got 39mpg on that trip amazingly.... and just about home when a load of errors came up, cant show Total Mileage, ESD not working, please attend workshop... app has not updated with that trip either... possbly showing unlocked as its not reported in at the end of that trip but annoying!! Just started the car and took it for a mile run around the block, all errors dissapeared and app now upto date with that trip!

Just activated the demo in the 8.5R.... will see if its worth it!! 😆

So seems its a bug for both Apple and Android then for it to be disconnecting like that! Mine still disconnects randomly when driving away from home, even though my phone is not on the home wifi or set to autojoin anymore. I now keep a cable in the car to plug it in when it disconnects! Anyone know how to report that to VW??

I also still have the carplay problem... I turned off auto join on my home network this morning... hoping it would mean it would stay connected to the car. Then drove off and about 100m away carplay disconnected and wouldnt reconnect. Luckily I now have a cable in the car, so plugged it in and did Carplay via the USB-C cable. Really is annoying that wireless carplay seems to not work reliably!! Not had this in any car previously!

OK, I seem to have a fix... When the car gets into this mess and cant connect via the Infotainment (complaining wifi has to be turned on) I have to go into wifi on my iPhone, there I can see the Wifi network MYVWXXXX if I then click to join the wifi network manually and I can then start carplay. So seems when I get into my car my phone then reconnects to the home wifi and that kicks off carplay but it doesnt then auto join back to the car wifi. What a load of polava.. never had this behaviour with previous cars when outside the house so seems a bug with the latest VM Infotainment software!

Just a bit confused as I don't use wifi or connect to the wifi in the car... it was always a bluetooth connection when you initiate it then select to use Carplay instead of bluetooth phone connection, Not sure why it keeps saying wifi needs to be on in the car when using carpay? It is connected... on the screen when you go into phones you can see it and you have the icons for Music and Phone and they work, music can be streamed... but Carplay just wont start....

Well, the plot thickens... left for work this morning and just wouldnt work.... I'm not sure whether it has anything to do with my phone being on the wifi connected to home still outside the house... as when I get home and pull onto the drive way carplay cuts out and disconnects as I'm parking. So assume this is something to do with wifi on the phone being connected at the time it tries to then do a bluetooth connection,. When I stop off at Costa and get back in carplay works fine!! Its just all odd!!

I remembered that I had gone into bluetooth settings on the phone and changed the device type in Bluetooth to car stereo... so whether that had anything to do with it. Have deleted it and paired it again and not changed anything and it seems to be working again now. Had to then go back in and turn message notifications on, as i was missing messages having the screen on VW screen not carplay. Seems to have settled down now... fingers crossed!!

Yeah, correct, so when I pair the phone via bluetooth you tell it if you want to use bluetooth or carplay... click carplay and then it says connected... but when launching carplay on the dash it just says unable to connect....

Picked up my new 8.5R on Sunday, and since the on 2 trips Carplay has not worked. I get in the car and nothing.... then try and connect phone and says please turn on Wifi in Infotainment system.. click OK to that.. then after 10 seconds says unable to connect to phone.... I've then deleted and gone to repair... it repaired fine but carplay wouldnt work..... so now at a loss.... anyone else having issues with Carplay or advice?? iphone and car are fully uptodate software wise. Its going back to the dealer tomorrow so will escalate to them too. Any tips??

Well, she is here!! Have to say, absolutely love her!! Took a 40 mile drive down the M1, all be it in 50 average speed zones, but drives brilliantly as you'd expect. Took a few mins to get used to driving petrol again after having electric for 2.5 years (bloody gears). Set up the VW app and was logged in before I knew it with my old profile from my Mk8 Golf R. There are 2 little imperfections, scratching on the steering wheel column and a scratch on the passenger side dash which I am taking up with the dealership. Other than that, she is a beauty!! 😁😁🚙🚙
