Hi Jobs, Just wondering if you, or anyone else that has got a PCP deal lately through these brokerage websites, could PM me with the sort of prices/deposits you got? Would be greatly appreciated, cheers!

Yeah was with TRL, having exchanged a few emails back and forth with him he seems like a decent bloke. Ah okay, relatively long wait time then? Just seen the deal advertised on their homepage, nowhere to actually select it though... Might be one of those eye-catching ones to lure you in

Yeah it seems an excellent deal, compared to some shocking(ly high) prices I was quoted at my local dealer recently! According to the guy who quoted me, BMW are pushing the M135i for the whole of quarter 1. That R lease sounds excellent, was that in 2015? Saw loads of great leases floating around last year, but stupidly waited and didn't take advantage of them!

Totally agree about tech really, both seemed totally adequate from what I saw in my limited time with the cars. About the Stage1, guessing thats just a chip tune? What sort of damage do they usually do to the wallet?

Hi Marriedblonde, How long ago did you order? What are the usual lead times on R's these days?

Thanks for the replies and the welcome from everyone! Just got back from a late one at work hence the slow reply. I think having heard all of your feedback and also having had a browse of the picture threads on here, the G7R seems to be the car for me over the M135i. Some of the cars you guys run on here are damned beautiful, and even though the beemer has grown on me, the same cannot be said for it! I do a lot of driving on (usually wet - its England) A and B roads and the fact a couple of you haven't got on totally well with M135i's, combined with my own test drive experience, just feels like I won't be necessarily be able to get that power down as much as in the R and will make slower progress. That and I don't trust myself to stay out of a ditch if I did try to get the back end out fully . Now, the hard part, to find the best deal!

Hi R400, I agree the G7R is undeniably a prettier car, and I prefer the roomier interior too (BMW seemed cramped). Would you say the in-car tech in the Golf is noticeably better, iDrive seems to have good reviews - admittedly I haven't done a lot of research into the Golfs tech? On balance I would prefer the G7R as a package (looks, all weather performance, etc.), its just a case of getting the price down to meet/near that deal I was quoted on the M135i.

Hi Doc83, Have test driven both, but hard to get a 'living with' feel in an hour or so with the salesman sat next to you . Actually test drove the BMW in the wet and would agree with your friend, back wheels/tail spun out a fair bit in sport and sport+ mode. Both cars really have their pros and cons, like I said it just essentially comes down to price at this point as I really can't split the two! If anyone knows of any amazing deals around, or if there is a resident dealer on these forums - please let me know!

Thanks Jobs, DSG Auto is a must, but beyond that I'm not overly fussed. Although in an ideal world would like the 19's and metallic paint. They are, they are! We're lucky to have the choice between the two, not a bad dilemma to have really! How does your Golf compare to the M135i, can you split them?

Hi all, First time poster here. Not sure if this is necessarily the right place to post this, apologies if not. Coming up to new car time now, Mid Feb order date, and I'm stuck between the M135i and the Golf R. Have test driven both and to be honest both are exceptional cars in their own right. For me its essentially going to come down to the price. Have been on the BabyBMW forums and got a quote from a resident dealer over there of £1500 down and £320 pcm on a PCP deal (with a couple of optional extras chucked in). I am just wondering if any of you knowledgable folk know if I am likely to get a better deal than this on the Golf? Either lease or PCP, not bothered either way. Lastly, what are people's feelings on living with the Golf? Does the power still excite after having it for a while? Thanks in advance! Sam
