Update I called Santander they actually did not get the report back from the independent engineer as of yet from when I spoke to them two days ago, explained to them the dealership sent an email asking for the car to be collected as they can no longer hold it in their premises and that by this Friday there would be a storage cost of £35.00 a day, finance company relayed do you what you feel is best and that this is an ongoing case.. Got a friend to recover it yesterday on a tow truck driven it today, SURPRISE SURPRISE the issue is still there absolutely *******ing ridiculous I want my money back every single penny!!! Recorded two videos of me going through all the different modes car will not downshift or upshift.. recorded a second video showing again the car not responding to my paddle shift inputs and explaining now I’m going to turn the car off and show you that everything goes back to normal once you do that. I’m fuming absolutely fuming!!!

I really don’t want the car back now, I haven’t had it back in my possession for just over 2 months.

Update from VW CS not sure where I go from here

Just a quick update… Home insurance company cannot do anything. Have open case for past month with Santander, they called me two days ago asking where I am with the car, explained to them I haven’t had the car in my possession for 2+ months now, dealership hiding behind can not replicate the issue, no fault codes being stored…they are going to arrange a road test themselves, relayed the issue with the paddle shifters is happening in race and Nürburgring mode. The useless VW customer service rep called me today again, stating I see the car has been collected (not me, must have been Santander???) I told the rep to call VW Barnsley and speak to the service manager as I advised her to do a few weeks ago as they are aware of the issue as per previous posts here and have a case open - so she can get more info out of them, which she is finally going to do after the call - she relayed my dealership have spoken to VW technical team and they aren’t aware of any paddle shifter issue with the car.. LOL yeah..

I am pretty sure the dealership I received my car from who is the supplying dealership for the broker I used are aware of the issue and probably had other customers complain but they are hiding behind no fault codes found, can’t replicate this issue rubbish. going to speak to my home insurance provider see if they can help because it’s ridiculous now, they just want me to accept the car back as it is and it’s not happening, it’s been two+ months now, I refuse to take it back. I can’t wait until we get the official confirmation so I can shove it in their face and VW customer service.

thank you, my finance company is asking for anything from VW acknowledging the issue to add weight to my rejection but I guess you haven’t received anything direct from VW customer service relaying this? car has been at the dealership for two months, I refuse to take it back. Here is their latest response. despite me sending in the video evidence of the issue.

Update on my paddle shifters problem the dealership still not budging. VW customer care useless they relayed they have asked the dealership to contact me a few times and to call me but they have never done so and are also ignoring my email communication, I told VW rep that can you not push the dealership to accept my rejection three times on the different calls I’ve had and wasn’t too happy with her response to that, I don’t think she’s applied any pressure at all. Finally got the finance company Santander involved. They are looking into it and have reached out to the dealership, my guess is they are still going to say tech have done multiple road tests cannot replicate the problem here’s the job sheet no fault codes stored blah blah blah. funnily enough I told Santander about the issues with the paddles other owners of this facelift model are experiencing on this forum and the lady in customer relations said they wouldn’t take that as supporting evidence as it can be “bias” huh. Honestly feel like going to the dealership before opening time and blocking the entrance until I get my money back I’m so ******** off nearly two months of finance payments and car insurance I’m paying for a car I know 100% is faulty and provided the video evidence to show that. I’m going mental, I’m absolutely fuming.

This is the response from VW after complaining to them. The dealership is refusing me to reject the car because they can’t replicate the fault despite me sending them in two videos of me clearly trying to upshift and downshift with the paddles and having no joy. My mental health is taking it’s toll on me with this, I am getting really frustrated, I haven’t told the finance company yet, the dealership has the car still, I refuse to take it back after they said they are “KEEN” to get the car delivered back to me. Can someone help me, would quoting posts from here help with same questions. Does anyone have a fault code Milton Keynes VW have logged about this particular problem, I’m paying finance and car insurance for a car that I do not have in my possession as its faulty, it’s driving me insane. Please if someone can help with a decent worded response or where to point me to the right legal avenues to put pressure on the dealership I will be happy to pay.

I sent them the rejection notice within the 30 days meaning I don’t have to give them the opportunity to fix the car, after 30 days they are allowed one attempt right? I haven’t been communicating directly with the dealership, it’s all going through the car broker I used but what I’m going to do now is forward the videos. They haven’t asked me for these yet, just keen to paw the car back to me which I’ve lost faith in, I’ve driven a few MK8’s before and it’s clunky it is hard to explain but it just does not feel crisp at all.

Can anyone help me please. The dealer who collected my car after putting in a rejection email said they have done a few road tests in the car and SURPRISE SURPRISE can not replicate the issues and have relayed that to the broker, thus “keen” to get the car delivered back to me… Idiots are probably driving it like a granny. I do not want the car back, on day one I have the issue with the car and it’s been consistently there when on a sprinted drive.. the issue I’m having having is the gearbox confusion issue where on a sprinted drive particularly in special/race model the gearbox box in manual the paddle shifters don’t work… it’s been reported in here a few times by members and VW Milton Keynes are aware of the issue and are working on an update.. software update/shifters to replace from previous comments here. luckily I’ve taken a few videos of the car playing up and the shifters not working in manual mode.. just wondering if anyone has been in same situation before, so do I now contact my finance company, complain to VW to put the pressure on the dealership.. The gearbox feels sluggish as the weeks have gone by and I’m not happy with it. Thank you

Sorry for the lack of pictures and updates about my new arrival the black edition.. it’s a great car but I’m having a terrible time in manual mode with the paddle shifters in the different settings, comfort, sport, race.. special there’s been a number of times sometimes daily where it just won’t work.. it happened on the first day of delivery too which I noted it here. I am looking at rejecting the car but I have covered over 2000 miles in it. It was delivered on the 4th March, so still in my 30 day period. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this and do you think I will get any fight back from the dealership about rejecting the car seeing as we are so close to the 30 day rejection time limit and the miles currently on the car.. any advice would be greatly appreciated, it’s sad I’m having to do this but it’s completely frustrating, I have recorded a video of it happening again yesterday.

car looks fantastic. I have a visible bloody stone chip too on the bonnet a few days into ownership.. I bought the touch up paint and gave it to my detailer who is currently front end ppf’ing the car and ceramic coating the car to rectify it, extremely frustrating but it is what it is I guess.

Received my car in good health! Extremely happy with it. What a car the exhaust sounds loud as it is, they have certainly reworked the exhaust note, race mode is phenomenal. So many looks and compliments. I still want to fit that ASR vale controller however so the vales are always open! i have been busy looking after my nephew, it was trailed delivered told them not to wash it so had all the stickers with barcodes on the wheels, windscreen etc, I couldn’t tell you the brand of the wheels atm haha! Quick drive and back looking after my nephew for the day. it needs a good wash, ceramic coating and front end PPF Friday. managed to set up my user profile straight away with no issues, configured everything up to my liking. meta deadlock is being fitted tomorrow and my main concern was turning off keyless entry glad I could do it in the settings without frantically finding someone to turn it off with vagcom etc.. I did experience two instances when in race mode it wouldn’t allow me to up or downshift manually with the paddles it was stuck in automatic, each time this happened I turned the car off in traffic toggled from eco back into race mode and all was good, a bit concerning though as I noticed a few others have experienced this… So far so good. Pictures when detailed! .

hey mate sorry to hear about that, whilst a wrap will never be the same there will be plenty of decent places out there that will give you that oem finish, just obviously be sure to declare it to the insurance company if you do go down that route!! im looking forward to my delivery on Tuesday but a bit nervous, I hope I am not missing an option though I do wish I spec’d the electric towbar, hoping for a nice surprise. 😅

I probably can but don’t want to hehe I’m just going to find everywhere today/tommorrow I believe only need to smash the window plug some computer into the obd port and another key can be easily cloned ridiculous so I can’t wait for my usual installer to do it following Monday that’s just way to risky in the area I live in. anyone know of any reputable Meta Trak s5 deadlock installers in West Midlands? Bit worried I stupidly left asking my main guy I use to install my security systems on my car until today if he could fit me in on Tuesday day of my delivery today and he said he’s very busy with 25 plates customers wanting their protection done. The earliest he can do it is 10th March so it’s going to be 6 days of not having the car protected. I don’t have a private driveway, My front and rear doors have anti snap locks (no patio glass doors anywhere) Apart from turning off wireless entry and fitting a dislock to the car is OBD theft still possible to do on these cars? Like with no further protection like S5 Deadlock/aftermarket immobiliser can someone easily smash the car window plug their computer in and drive away with the car in the matter of minutes on this current golf platform? If so I will hardly be able to sleep I think until some decent aftermarket security is fitted I think. He has also recommended Scorpion X Immobiliser comes with the + GPS Security Tracker any have this? Says ghost causes errors on the platform.

Had a message this morning from the broker that my car has arrived at a UK port and is ready for the final stages of its journey. The dealership will be keen I guess to register it before March 1st however I am away and I do expect them to honour my request to hold onto the car and not register it prior to the 1st March.. I will be extremely annoyed if they don’t. Let’s see, I’ve just sent them an email, not long left now really excited! The plan is to try and make up the first 1000 miles with a road trip to France and Germany, I would like to go to ASR direct and get them to fit the valve controller on the car so that would be nice 😊

Wow you have received the car extremely quick. I was BW 16th December and had an email just over a week and half ago relaying that it’s now in transit from factory and that the supplying dealership is hoping to have it with them by the end of the month, again another member on here with some broker and had the matching BW is in the same position as me in terms of the car currently in transit from factory..

Also had a notification email that my BE R order has left the factory from the broker. I have requested a march registration and delivery however per my broker comments the supplying dealership is hoping that the car arrives by end of the month.. 😂😂 I am hoping for delays and will be cheesed if the dealer pushes me to deliver car before then, considering paperwork mentions March, this will give me enough time to get rid of current car, earn another NCB as current insurers are quoting silly money.
