  1. More importantly, didnt realise oddjob had a twin sister
  2. Cool, thanks guys. Prices are pretty good compared to dealerships. Even though most appear to have no extras, that's not too much of an issue as can carry out some upgrades with the savings made. Their warranty page mentions £69 for a 3 month warranty, but not much beyond that, apart from contact them for further details. https://www.imperialcarsupermarkets.co.uk/warranty/ Not sure on the quality of their warranties, but I guess if buying a car 2 years old or younger, VW will cover it anyway.
  3. cheers chaps. I'm buying and its not a VW dealership - in fact its no longer online, so no doubts someone has bought it!
  4. Imperial cars is the one nearish to me
  5. Hi, Whst are your thoughts on buying from car supermarkets? R's at one's near me seem to be a few k cheaper than dealer prices Guessing they're former lease vehicles from auction - same places franchises pick their stock from? If buying a newish one, it would still be covered by vw. Anything to be particularly wary of or reasons to avoid these kind of places?
  6. Hi, Would you buy an R that's 2nd year service was overdue by 2 months? Would it effect resale value down the line? Could offer to have it serviced and inspected by a specialist/dealer prior to purchase.
  7. Although to be honest carwow are quoting at 32k for all the options I want - 6.5k off usual, so it almost seems pointless going used from vw as 2019 cars are around 29k, without the options or different ones and 2017 in other colours are around 25/26k from vw. Seems pointless going 2nd hand for now.
  8. Cheers chaps. Sensible thing is to travel up and view, i undrestand. I work full time, have a new business and young family so spending a day or so travelling over the uk to view, potentially, a number of cars was something I'm looking to avoid if possible. Issue I've had with buying cars before is they always seem to want another few days to reg, clean and service/mot the vehicle, which means a return trip, not ideal, but I guess it's either that or wait for one to appear at local branch or take a risk. Other option I guess is finding someone I trust with cars to do it on my behalf if I pay them.
  9. Cheers fellas, I'll be going for the silvers. Both look great though.
  10. Hi all,. I've seen a couple of 7.5's online that are the spec I was looking for. Both are from VW franchises a few hours away. I know what an r drives like ike having driven a couple at my local branch, so dont really need to drive it from the angle of making sure I like the car. So could just negotiate over the phone and see if they'd deliver to me and take my old car away. Are there any recommendations for how to handle purchasing a car from a distant vw shop? I'd be asking of there were any imperfections/issues etc and the deal would be off if my mate inspects it on arrival and finds any issues they dont disclose. Thanks
  11. Yeah, I'm only interested in the hatch. I'm probably leaning towards silver prets, as they're probably more 'timeless', rather than a current trend. I see you have Black mirror caps with silver alloys - would be interesting to see how that looks. Is it easy to get Indium grey caps, or a workshop to spray them grey. Not sure about silver wing mirrors or any colour apart from silver - strange why VW and Audi do this on their performance cars.
  12. Hi, I finally took an R out for a test drive yesterday - totally blew me away. Was buzzing for ages afterwards! Different league to anything I've been in before. The salesman was encouraging me to floor it when pulling away from junctions in the wet, was amazed how it didn't lose grip or spin, unlike the GTI I drove previously. I like the Indium Grey colour and I'm pondering whether to get black Prets with it or silver/grey alloys. My local branch never seem to have grey, always Lapiz or White. Which do you guys thinks goes the best? I did read somewhere that black alloys need to be cleaned more often otherwise they look crap. If thats the case, I'll go for silver/grey as I'm pretty lazy and don't have a strong preference. I'll be purchasing a used vehicle.
  13. Looks like I need to do some research. I thought the current value of the covered was covered in the event of a write off/theft.
  14. In reply to some responses, do you still need gap insurance if you're bot taking out a lease or loan to purchase the car?
