  1. Ordered the 8's yesterday for the same reasons you just said. Still not decided if it's the right decision, but at least I've made a decision!
  2. Been agonising over the 8 or 8.5 thing, but finally ordered the 8's from CM yesterday. I just didn't want to risk the stretching of tyres with the 8.5 - even though loads of people do it. Figured it was safer going with the OEM measurements. I may be wrong, but at least I've made a decision! I'm hoping I won't have the same problem as Dan, as I've actually recently had my hubs painted - just depends on how much of the flush part of the hub was painted - won't know until I take the wheels off. Thanks for the reply!
  3. Pics of. the CM Pretoria 19" wheels in 8j. Debating on 8 or 8.5 So my question is, does anyone who owns the 8.5 also have the same issue as Dan1982 ? I'd prefer to go for the 8, but if people can confirm that the 8.5 doesn't suffer with the same issue pictured here, then I'd probably be swayed to the 8.5. Thanks!
  4. I've also seen mention of "19 inch Pretoria replicas 18x8 ET45". In this context, I have no idea what 18x8 means, nor do I know what ET45 means. Any ideas?
  5. I'm about to change my 18" Cadiz for 19" replica black Pretoria wheels. My tyres need changing, so now seems to be the time to take the plunge. Am planning on Pilot Sport 4S 235/35/R19 tyres. I was just about ready to hit 'buy' and now the question of 8j or 8.5j has come up. They have suggested I buy 8.5j. But other people seem to have bought 8j. In my confusion, I went to a VW brochure to look at the 19" specs and it says 8j. I'm not even sure how much difference it makes? Can someone clear up my confusion? I definitely want to get the same spec wheel front and back, so should I go for 8j...? In terms of tyres, I assume its 235/35/R19 regardless of J...? But wouldn't the tyre be stretched if the wheels were wider, and if they are stretched, then less depth of tyre would be hitting the road and so more uncomfortable (because they'd be stretched/flattened by having a wider rim). Trying to get as many opinions as possible on what people have chosen and why. Thanks
  6. Just had mine done here https://www.specialisttyres.com/brake-caliper-painting Highly recommended.
  7. If you aren't a fan yet of the gloss black, I have a set of mint Cadiz which I'll gladly discuss swapping!
  8. Agentfruit - picked up the car 3 days ago - THE SQUEAK HAS GONE!!!! Just hope it stays that way!! THANK YOU SO MUCH for the help!!!
  9. Thanks - your latest post was massively helpful. I spoke to Jamie as per your suggestion. He did remember you. My car is now booked in to be looked at. Unfortunately not for another 3 weeks because of courtesy car availability, but at least that's progress! I'll update this thread again after the visit. Thanks.
  10. Tried phoning them, but of course they can't remember the specific car or what was done, as I wasn't able to give out any of your personal details. Tempting as it is to drive 200 miles, I'm very reluctant given their "we can't make any promises" speech they just gave me. As a point of moaning (not just them but every VW dealership), it does really cheese me off that it's impossible to get past the 'front line' (i.e. the people they have sat at the desks). What's needed in these situations is for someone to go out the back, round up all the engineers, and ascertain which one is most experienced with Golf R's, and if they've ever come across the fault before. But, no, they won't do it. You just get a random engineer assigned on the day and hope for the best. If it wasn't under warranty, I'd take it to an independent.
  11. Thanks! Are you happy it’s now resolved? If you let the readers of this thread the name/town of your dealership, i’d be almost tempted to drive out of my way to get it fixed
  12. Hi @AgentFruit what did they say?
  13. I've already pressed the buy button now 😁 I think I'll stick with it - for £15.99 (including 1 month free trial), it means I can sort out the sound actor and stop/start engine annoyances. Then when the rumoured iOS OBD comes out in a couple of months, I can change/upgrade to that, if I get an appetite for more tweaks. Thanks!
  14. Thanks - think I'll give it a go. It's "only" £15 so worth a go. It'll be worth that just to turn off the auto stop/start alone!
  15. Hi - that would be really helpful. Thanks.
