I'm a huge gaming fan, find me on xbox (Txstiest). I love getting out and about hiking or mountain biking. I gym most mornings before work. I do enjoy going to car shows but I'm a few years out of the scene. Used to run the owners club for Suzuki Swift Sports.

  1. Do you think that's the daddy that Shaun/Sean/Shawn was on about it Tokyo Drift 😂
  2. Had a set of michelin pilot sport 4S fitted to replace the pick n mix tyres that were previously on. There was a hankook, a kumho, a pirelli, and a uniroyal... Like who tf does that? Who replaces just a single tyre at a time? At the very least an axle. Maybe if I got a puncture I'd replace just one tyre, but only if the set were less than 3000miles old. Otherwise it'd be an axle again. And even then i'd make sure the replacement matched the other tyres. Heathens.
  3. Welcome along. Like you I'm new to owning, finding the forum to be very friendly so far so I'm sure you'll have no issues getting help with anything too If theres one thing I miss about the focus I had, its the pan roof 😅
  4. Having owned mine for just over a month I admit the novelty of how quick the R is has not yet worn off... however... I don't do racing people. I just have zero faith in other road users to not lose control and do some damage. To me, my car, themselves, innocent pedestrians or otherwise. I limit myself to engaging race mode and then needlessly blipping the throttle just to hear the turbo spool up, dump, and then the muffled pops on the come down 😅. If I'm coming back from somewhere late at night, and the road is dead quiet and I feel up to it, I'll blast it up to 70 (+/- 30) and then coast back down. As has been said, none of us bought a car with the performance of the R to not use it. But I do find that I'm less inclined to "race" people now. Whether that's due to age, the cost of fuel, or the likelihood of whatever is trying to race having any remote chance of keeping pace being less than 1% so I feel I have nothing to prove, is up for debate 🤣
  5. Haha I think we all have dozens of plans most of the time, just a case of finding time and money 🤣 May choose to give the wheels some TLC, get them refurbed with the tyre change and spruce them up a bit. Be the first time I've paid for them, previously I've worked in powder coating applicators and always snuck my wheels in a run to get them coated 😅 I'll have to look through the paperwork at previous owners and see if you guys recognise a name.
  6. Thank you for the welcome I'll make notes of these and see about checking things. I have just had the coolant regulator valve replaced as that was leaking, and added cable ties to the bonnet release housing thing.
  7. Thank you kindly. The car seems in good nick, just over 70k miles, recently serviced and MOT'd. Have already added cable ties to the bonnet release cable housing thing 😅 and ordered myself a set of 4 michelin pilot sport 4 S to replace the pick and mix tyres that were on. The car is previously modified by MRC, the receipts show a stage 2 tune and around the 400bhp mark, with a DSG tune at the same time. Not 100% on what all the supporting mods are, definitely an intake fitted though (the big foam thing in the engine bay gave that away 🤣). Future plans (now I'm recently single - more money for car parts right?) include getting the wheels stripped and powder coated to freshen them up. I'll be replacing the coolant/breather hoses with a silicone set, probably in blue to match the car. I've been eying up an exhaust system, but sweet jesus there are so many to pick from. After the exhaust I'll be looking at uprating the brakes a little, never gonna push to break 500bhp (i'm sure thats been said plenty of times before though) so won't be looking at any big brake kits, but maybe upgrade the brake lines and fluid and get grooved discs. Would normally do brakes first, but it's recently had new discs and pads all round so be a waste of money to swap out now. I'll look to get some photos up soon, but not gonna rush. I've no doubt you're all very familiar with what a mk7 R looks like 🤣. I'll definitely add pics with any modifications though. Gotta love a progress thread.
  8. Hey all. New to the page but not new to the scene. Have been in a few owners clubs before, even ran one for a couple years. Little about my car history. First car was a Golf Mk4 TDI (bet you guys didn't know it pulled like a train 😂). After that I got myself a ZC32 Suzuki Swift Sport. Absolutely loved the little thing (it was that owners club I helped run for a couple years). Moved onto a Toyota GT86. So many people complained they weren't powerful enough, but my god what a well balanced car. Lastly I got given a Ford Focus Active from work. Now I've been out and got myself the R. Figured I'd try get into the scene again a little, attend some shows, make some friends. So yeah. Hey. I'm Darren.
