After many hours of research, I went for my R based on the fact it was what I call the ‘unicorn’ years 17/18 that benefits from pre GPF and also having a digi dash. I’m very happy with my purchase!

I’ve got a VAG SPORT Res delete that’s going onto my 2017 MK7.5 but wondered what others have done to get a better exhaust note on a standard system. I don’t want a decat, but I’m guessing a down pipe? anyone else run these combos?

It’s on a private plate dude GO53 LFR (see what they did there!) I also noted all four tyres were new and budget. They called me back today and told them I wasn’t taking a second look!

It’s what I thought but a mate who is a VW Mechanic stated that there may be a mileage discrepancy at service (the 2020 number was input wrongly) as it wouldn’t t have happened on the MOT as it’s far more regulated

Sorry mate I should clarify. It was serviced on 14/2/2020 (it’s only service) at 9,657 miles. it was then MOT’d on 21/02/2022 and had covered 9,584 miles

I did a full check with Car Vertical and came back with everything in check and no salvage. The garage is going back to the precocious owner with all my questions

Also, when on the test drive, it back fires, popped and banged in race ridiculously and also on down shifts it popped loads, I’m guessing this means it’s likely been mapped

Thanks for the replies. I’ve done my own full HPI check and it comes back clean as a whistle, which is good. Appears to be all true and I think I’m being overly cautious. Dealer basically photographed it and put it up on their website and it hasn’t been through their garage yet to be checked over. it has a Miltek exhaust on it but it is LOUD, however I’ve never heard a Miltek system on an R in person to make a comment on it. if it’s had a GPF taken off, would that mean it’s just been straight piped?

Hi guys, I hope you’re all well! I’m possibly pulling the trigger on a Golf R hatch soon. Went and viewed one but a few possible red flags came up. The car has several more mods which the dealer didn’t notice (air filter, coil overs and res delete) and also the mileage seems a bit strange! it’s a 2019 with just under 12,000 miles but appears to have sat stagnant for two years. Am I being over cautious? It had an MOT in December 2020 with a mileage of 9,618 miles and the next time it came to notice was it having a service (it’s only one in three years) at 9,583 miles. Any help greatly received
