Thanks for the reply that’s the way my 8 was after a few minutes, but not my 8.5

Apologies if this has already brought up. The heated steering wheel on my 8.5 BE doesn’t heat as warm as my 8.0 did. After about 5 minutes in my 8.0 you had to turn it down. In my 8.5 you can just leave it on setting 3. Basically setting 2 and 1 are obsolete on my 8.5. I would say setting 3 on the 8.5 is the equivalent of about setting 1 on the 8.0. Trying to work out if my steering wheel is faulty or this is now the normal and VW have just turned down the maximum temperature?

Was wondering about the start/stop on the 8.5 BE. My 8R when stopped in queuing traffic would stop when you came to a standstill. When the car in front started to move the sensors would pick up the movement and the engine would automatically start again. Doesn’t seem to do this in my 8.5 you have to touch the accelerator to start it again

Just picked up my BE from Edinburgh today and when I opened the boot there is a boot liner and rear blinds. The salesman didn’t know why they were there, but said there in your car, so there yours. I had no idea why they were there, so I checked the forum I find this, so it’s still happening 🤷‍♂️

Don’t know if this is the new wait time in the uk or if I’ve been lucky. On 4 August I ordered a BE in lapiz with black roof, HK, DCC and leather seats. I expected it would be here about January as did the broker. I was given an unconfirmed build week of 29 September, which was changed to a confirmed BW of 8 September. I thought both dates were BS and was quite sure the build week would change. It turns out it wasn’t BS and the car arrived at the dealer on 7 October. I wasn’t expecting it and it’s been a bit of a scramble to get my plate off my 8R, await the V5 and get it sold on car wow. Anyway my black 8R gets picked up on Monday and I am off on a journey to collect the new one on Tuesday. From 22 months wait for the 8R to just over 2 months for this one.

Yes and it also does it with the standard R with white with black roof and performance pack. I’ve asked for pictures but no reply as yet 🤷‍♂️ can’t be much if it’s a free option. VW don’t tend to give much for free 🤪

For info, I emailed VW re the bumber and sill extensions in the configurator, below is their reply:- The bumper and sill extensions referenced in the configuration are part of the R styling enhancements exclusive to the Black Edition. These include a revised R-specific front bumper with twin gloss black intakes, a large central opening for improved airflow and downforce, and sharp body-coloured side sill extensions that visually lower the car’s stance. This styling package is only available when selecting the Lapiz Blue Premium Metallic paint and carries an additional cost. The enhancements are aesthetic and designed to give the vehicle a more aggressive and aerodynamic appearance. We appreciate you bringing to our attention the lack of imagery and further detail in the online configurator. Please be assured that we will be forwarding this feedback to the relevant team for review and improvement.

Currently got an 8R IN “BLACK” 🤯 ceramic coating has helped TBF. Was intending to keep it longer term but through Motorfinity it makes economic sense for me to change now. Seriously considering an 8.5 BE as a car to hold on to for a while:- blue/black roof. standard black estorils DCC H&K Leather (really like the leather seats in my 8 ) but pricey option A couple of questions for current owners:- if you put a sunroof on it with the black roof I assume it comes painted black from the sunroof back. any issues with the sunroof leaks etc on VW uk configurator it lists bumpers and sill extensions in “R” style but no more details to click on to show you exactly what they look like. They are a no cost option. Has anyone seen them or no the difference between them and the standard option? Thanks

For info of those waiting on their car. This was built on the build week. it was at Emden for shipping by the 14 August. Arrived in the Uk today. It’s been confirmed it won’t be registered until a 73 plate even if it is with the dealer this month.

That will just be like your friends car, who imported one from BMP tuning (performance spoiler bought forum on 4 May) when you advised to buy from VW rather than import. I wonder if he got the same comment 😜

Hi been watching from afar for a while. Picked up a cancelled order through motorfinity last August. originally ordered January 22. Now got confirmed BW 7 August. Black 19” Estorils DCC H&K Rev Cam Leather For info, I ordered the PP spoiler a couple of weeks ago from my local dealer, thinking this will take months as it has continually been showing as on back order. much to his and my surprise it arrived within 10 days.
