Thank you Rebecca for your reply, I wasn't sure given that I can stand in the porch and move/park the car via my phone which does remotely start the engine, but unlike my daughter with an ID5, I don't have the preheat option on my VW app. I expected you were going to say it wasn't possible, but was hoping to be surprised. thanks Kevin

Hi, not sure if anyone else has this problem. For the last week, I now have the standard navigation system showing shortcuts twice on my system. I would prefer it not to appear at all as I exclusively use carplay does anyone have a suggestion of how to remove 1 or both of these symbols? Thank you in advance Kevin

My view would be, as you can change the spec, how important is it to you having the upgraded sound system over and above having the car potentially delayed by a few extra weeks. The dealership are probably only thinking of the extra administration needed rather than you getting your perfect spec.

I have also removed the little rubber mat and find it much better, I don't have to remove the case from my iPhone 16 pro and it reliably charges

Good morning all, I picked up my new Golf R BE in Lapiz blue from VW Doncaster on Tuesday afternoon I will post pictures later, still a bit apprehensive, but hopefully I will soon start to enjoy it. I have Bosch wipers / screen protector / triangle all ready to install, but just giving it a few days after the experience of the last month. On the positive side, I have taken delivery of 2 brand new Golf R's in 2025, how many people have had that experience! take care Kevin

Hi, I have an update on my stolen R, no news was good news so to speak. 2 weeks went by and no police response to say car found, so insurance company gave me a fair valuation (as car was under 12 months old, it appears they were obliged to offer me a replacement car and would even pay the extra car tax), but I really wanted a car now rather than wait 4 months again. Anyway taking their offer I was able to source a stock car which was similar to mine but has the addition of sunroof and sound system upgrade. I guessed that it was better to pay and benefit from extras rather than pay the car tax for an April delivery. I pick up my new car from VW Doncaster next Tuesday afternoon (18th March). My new spec VW Golf R black edition in Lapiz blue DCC Sunroof Sound system upgrade I see people are getting the Pandora storm system added, is this immobiliser worth the money? thanks Kevin

Hi, my eldest also has had this issue yesterday for the 1st time. He has other issues with tech side as we had multiple warnings on the 1st part of our journey yesterday and rear windows kept opening themselves (only about 2 inches). Anyway left car about 4 hours and on return journey had this error similar to @tommymortago

Back to invoice, which they have told me includes base price, factory fitted options and dealer options. no doubt not the free bootliner or the bosch wipers but that is small amounts. My Gap also pays £500 towards insurance excess and 30 days car hire. Main insurance also pays for 21 days car hire. Dealer says could easily be 3-4 months to get a new golf R, so i may have to pay for some car hire but not sure.

thanks, I don't want to let them win, it has to be stolen 14 days before I get an offer from insurance, GAP already told me what market value I can accept from insurance, they then top up to full invoice value, although not yet sure exactly how that works, I will find out in due course. Dealer is suggesting I order black or white as more disguised, but I am not sure. I choose blue and anyway that rear spoiler on the black edition is a real giveaway. I could order a polo life, but the police say they steal those just as much

Not sure what they removed, but it worked and was tracking until about 7.30am and i was on the phone with the officer on his way to car location and app showed them unlock the door but by the time he arrived at location it was gone. At 8am it was picked up with my reg still on via apnr about 3 miles from previous location and tracker had stopped. now 36 hours later i dont want that car back, but am keen to order a replacement.

I should add that i have now had some new news from the police. One of the 3 teenagers has been recognised from my cctv and arrested, but as the officer assigned to my case said, he will be released on bale within the day even if charged.

Hi it is interesting discussion and actually very debatable as to what to do and police stated various examples such as 1) person being forced at knifepoint to reveal ghost sequence. In my case the key was easy to find once you broke in. My house has been broken in, but they didnt even take the wallet/ handbag next to the keys, nobody was injured. 2) my vw tracker located car, but police were slightly too slow to get there. 3) they were just after a key and have taken a piece of metal. But they didn't rumage through or take any sentimental items. As bad as i feel at present, eventually i will get a replacement

Not sure which section I should post this and it is developing details, but had car stolen this morning. House broken into, only one car key was stolen from rear of hallway. 3 very young people then clamber into car and drive it away. VW app tracker tracks it to a location 4 miles away, but police visited and nothing there, but close to canal, so maybe they found VW tracker and threw it in canal? Forensics at house now. I have been running car in, never exceeding 4,000 revs. They didn't care and noise on CCTV is very loud and well rev'd as they disappear. only good news is none of use are hurt and nothing else stolen
