Android Auto

I am sure this has been covered lots so apologies in advance....

Picked up my new mk7 R last week. Plugged phone into Bluetooth (used lots of different cables), changed settings from just charging to MTP and Android Auto still doesn't work. It just says that device (Samsung S7) isn't recognised. Tried wife's phone (Sony Xperia) and the same happens.

I was under the impression that all Golf's were compatible with Android Auto? Any ideas of what I need to do to get it working?

Thanks.

App-connect is required on the car - did you spec this?

PS Bluetooth does not use a cable!

I'm loving the AA on mine. The first couple of connections were a bit hit and miss but its now working well. Occasionally it fails to connect first time but I then simply pick my phone from the list and it works 2nd time. Voice control is great, though it needs a data connection on the phone to work.

Waze is due on AA "in the next few months", as of Android I/O last month, so hopefully before the end of the summer. Google maps is good, but I'm missing my speed camera alerts.

My only small complaint is that it takes 2 presses to get back to the AA display if you were looking at one of the stock car screens. E.g. if I'm using Maps, then switch to Radio to change stations, I then need to go to Menu and then App Connect to get back to Maps. Apart from that, way, way better than paying £800+ for VW nav.
