My golf R had a sat nav fitted when I bought it... Apparently its a genuine VW part but its not the standard satnav... You hold down the media button for 2 seconds and it comes up... Its a bit clunky but it works.. Only problem is mine isn't sending any audio through the speakers and the traffic system isn't connecting as it should...

Thanks, I did hold the power button down but it didn't seem to work. (didn't time it though) I removed the fuse in the glovebox in the end and put it back in and that did the trick

My screen has gone completely blank. Audio still coming through but can't get display to show anything...

It was stolen in july... They haven't moved on. They will continue to take nice cars when they can. They came into house and took the keys

Just got a new Golf R after my old one was stolen. I'd forgotten just how good this car is. I got used to it very fast but its amazing! Love the little improvements they've made. The new software on the head unit works well better and its so good to be able to change the volume of the sound actuator thingymajig! Throttle response seems sharper too - although maybe thats just having been in a hire car for 6 weeks! Also the Radar cruise seems to work better now and is more intuitive (when indicating on overtake etc) - maybe it always did that...

For those looking this might be worth a go. Originally I was thinking of getting a tracker then Saw the price! Then I thought about an old iPhone with find my iPhone app on but battery life is rubbish. In case anyone is interested VWFS are not trying to find me a car. They royally messed up dealing with my case as the woman admitted. She has now started to look for a replacement for me... Its a bit annoying as I've just paid the deposit on purchasing/ordering a new 335D and I will lose the deposit of that now...

I'm fuming that on Inchape VW website there are ALL the registrations for used cars... Makes is so easy for thieves to clone plates...

When you say tracking one down himself - was this a new car? A pre reg car or similar? Who did he approach about doing this? The insurance said all they will do is pay VWFS direct....

Anyone fancy writing to watchdog about the way you lose your initial payment and VWFS makes easy money for nothing?

Gutted i've lost the £2400 initial payment too! Think the only safe way of having a nice car is to own it and then any insurance payout has you fully covered...

Had my R stolen whilst we slept last week. Has anyone been able to get VWFS to transfer the insurance money over to another GOLF R or order a new one for them under the same agreement so as not to lose the initial payment? Thanks

Stolen last night from northwich Cheshire. Hey also took my laptop which has really important stuff on it I can't get back. I'm not bothered about the car but would pay well for the laptops return.
