Still lurking about and thanks for comments on GTS - I bloody love it and with how fickle I am with cars that says it all. As for the new addition, collection went well yesterday and after 5 years trouble free motoring the little Ibiza FR we bought after selling our R was swapped out for…… Golf GTi Pirelli Edition - 1 owner car from new with a stack of paperwork, including original new car invoice. Never been modded but maintained fastidiously by its owner. It has 124k miles but it’s still on original clutch so gives a good i indication as to how it’s been looked after. Question of will I mod it and potentially ruin it…..sadly yes it’s going to become a track car but I wanted a clean manual KO4 car and this was the best I could find - so sorry to the purists 👀 Couple of pics when I got it home.

Thought I’d drop by and say hi, still got the GTS with a few little mods added - 718 alcantara/carbon interior, genuine Spyder ducktail, some H&R springs and spacers. Potentially another fast Golf joining the fleet next week so will update accordingly….

Bought from an OPC so slightly higher price but £51k with 29k miles 👍

Thanks guys, I’m really pleased with it.

The Spyder is the car I also wanted and will hopefully upgrade to in a few years time - budget wouldn’t allow at this moment in time hence me settling for the GTS with a manual 3.4 and 325bhp (only 1350kgs too). The 981 generation (same as my car) only has the GT4 engine albeit slightly destined, but not the Chassis. The current 718 Spyder is basically a convertible GT4 but with new cars unavailable to the average punter, and the used cars starting at £90k and going over £100k prices are too strong.

Thanks guys. The sound this makes as a standard car is epic, my previous 987 with aftermarket exhaust was good but this is another level.

So the 987 S went to its new home about 3 weeks ago now where it’s being loved by the new owner. I pick up this 2015 981 GTS manual in Guards Red on Friday…terrible pic but only one I’ve got at moment.

Sorry missed your message. It’s just the standard Spectral Mullet but I love it. alternate each week between the Crush and Spectral and love them equally for what they bring to the days riding.

Boxster still thoroughly enjoyable to drive albeit been a touch expensive over last few months needing a new clutch, RMS, IMS (whilst gearbox is off), new brakes including all new lines, coolant pipes and a/c pipe which had failed - so much for German engineering 😂

So still got the Crush Pro after 17months and it’s proven to be a great weekend ride, but I was still hankering after another full bounce….so another bike has joined the garage collection. Gone for a Canyon Spectral CF Mullet - first ride out this weekend 😁 pic of the Crush too which now has a new Hope Fortus 30 rim with Pro4 hub along with a number of other upgrades - nothing stays standard long in my house if it’s left alone with me.

Mine is a 987.1 3.2S, with 72k miles on it the general consensus is if it was going to have an IMS issue it would have by now. The internet has literally blown the problem out of all reasonable proportion and having read so many articles over the last few years I bit the bullet and just got on with it. The 981 is a lot more modern looking and feeling car but it moves to the epas steering which loses some of the feel and being that bit bigger isn’t quite as intimate feeling when driving. The absolute sweet spot seems to be the 987.2 cars which got the newer dfi engines ‘09+, slightly revised lights and bumpers and slightly updated interior. This is then all blended into the 987 chassis which is very analogue driving experience. With regards to getting the pup in the car, unless it’s on the passenger seat there really isn’t enough space, remember it’s a sports car not a hatchback layout. Best thing I can recommend is have a drive of a few examples, just be aware the prices are bonkers high on all Porsches and massively over inflated at the moment. This is the reason I got my car as I will sit in it until the market corrects, I wanted a 981 GTS or even Spyder but I’m going to bide my time for 12-18months.

Before you spend 5-6 times more on the GTS have a drive of a 987 Boxster, you’ll be pleasantly surprised 👍

100% better car than an R to do the NC500, the Boxster is very engaging/visceral with roof down and the handling is sublime with its mid/rear set up. The R would do the job adequately but I would suggest it would be slightly more detached from the Scottish driving experience. Its been said by many but the Boxster is a hidden gem within the Porsche range as its amazing VFM compared to the 911 and arguably a much better chassis set up - its only a matter of time until their popularity rises along with prices. I still crave a 911 next year though 😁

Thanks Rebecca, life’s too short for cars to stay standard 😆
-
Thank you sir, it’s a back to basics driving experience which is perfect for weekend use.

Few mods now done - Top Gear stainless valved CAT back (literally sounds like a GT car), H&R springs & spacers. Side vents colour coded. Now 3 months into ownership I’m really starting to gel with it, really pure driving experience which only rewards if you use the right inputs. Will be in an RS3 in the Spring as would also like another 5 pot car, but it will live alongside the poverty Porsche 😀

DC5 is stunning, I had one back in 2006/7 and being able to drive it bought back memories of how great they are.
-
I’m a serial car changer Rebecca as you’ve witnessed a few times 😁 Boxster is refreshing in that it’s reminded me how much fun driving can be without doing warp speed, the issue I’ve had with my Golf R, TTS and TTRS is that I was going everywhere at license losing speeds trying to get some fun out of the cars. The Pork is going in for a few age related maintenance jobs, some H&R springs and spacers and a valued stainless exhaust - hopefully drag most of my money out next summer when I’ll move to a 997 Turbo all being well.
-
Well the RS has been sold to Dream Car Giveaways after they prospected me to sell them the car - made a great offer which I took. It’s just gone live with draw next Friday. Bought a cheap stop gap replacement which I’ve just taken on the NC500 - perfect car for the job.

We’ve got a 2018 FR 115 Ibiza like this, had it from new. Just this year paid the final balloon payment to keep it, we are very pleased with it as a runabout. Think you’ll be pleased 🙂
