  1. Dealership did everything. All I needed to do was to sign a document to transfer the finance from the old car to the new car.
  2. It was a Lapiz blue estate. Reg started LG66....
  3. I had similar problems with my 66 reg R estate. In my first 3 months of ownership it spent 9 weeks in the dealership with various electrical problems. In the end they ordered me a new car exactly the same spec. The dealer who sorted it was very good and paid for my finance whilst it was being repaired and all fuel in the courtesy car i was using. Although an absolute pain, the support of the dealership made it better and now I have another R and in 5500 miles I've had zero problems. I did notice though that they sold my old R through the dealer network so some other poor sod now has it.
  4. Hi any ideas? Bird muck on front of car it was pretty much baked on with the heat we've had today. I wiped it off as soon as I saw it but it has left a terrible mark on the paint. I've tried to wax it out but no change.
  5. Apologies for resurrecting this thread but my car has been unlocking itself. It was unlocked last weekend so I assumed I had just not clicked the key. I've then been extra careful about making sure it has been locked. Went out this morning and it was unlocked. Did the OP ever get to the bottom of this?
  6. I'll add my experience to this. My case is extreme and I think just unlucky. There are many many people that have had no issues at all. VW are replacing my car like for like and I collect the new one on 1 March 2017. My Golf R Estate was collected on 9th September 2016. It then spent 6 of the first 9 weeks of ownership in the dealership with problem after problem. These included: Various rattles from doors Dashboard on passenger side not screwed in so dropped significantly - required removal and refitting of dashboard Drivers seat back broken Paint work issues on drivers door Rear lights all intermittently stop working (not good in the winter). Roadside assist managed to get all except the number plate lights working - still not fixed ACC error messages at random Passenger seat belt all twisted (it still worked but required a new seat belt) The car drives fantasically - the DSG gearbox is absolutely fantastic. As I said, mine is a one-off extreme situation
  7. Many thanks for the replies. I'll check with the dealership to see what lubricant they are using.
  8. My Golf R Estate is 1 month old and has spent 2 weeks in the dealership with a variety of issues from paint work problems to sear belts incorrectly installed. The one issue the dealership are struggling to resolve is creaking driver and passenger doors. They have tried lubricating them, changing the seals, adjusting the doors etc... they have got the creaking to a level where it only happens over really uneven road. Is there a design fault and therefore i should accept the car back or should i continue to press them to totally get rid of the creak? Does anyone else have this issue? Ive got a fully fuelled courtesy car so am able to get about but am really struggling to remain accomodating to the dealership. Car is fantastic other than this! Thanks for any help.
  9. Many thanks. Appreciate the quick response.
  10. Just been playing around with various settings on the car. I turned off ESC by pressing the button by the gearbox. The central display in front of the driver correctly states that it is swtiched off. Immediately after that message i then get "Front assist deactivated" message and the front assist deactivated symbol on the dash. Is this correct that when ESC is switched off that fromt assist is also deactivated? Thanks
  11. A short review on the first week with my MY17 R estate. The only option is Lapiz Blue metallic. Coming from a diesel A6 Avant this is a sea change and perhaps might be indicative of a forthcoming mid-life crisis. What a fantastic car. There is nothing about the car that I can fault. It is smooth and quiet on the motorway and loud and brash when I want to hoon it around. On a run to Luton and back yesterday round the M25 I achieved an average of 38.4mpg!! Admittedly I'm still in the first few hundred miles in the car so taking a bit easy but I wasn't expecting to get anything near that. The only slight black mark is the dealer. When I picked up the car it wasn't particularly clean, and the back rest adjustment on the drivers seat didn't work. It goes back in tomorrow to be repaired (with the promise of a free tank of fuel and some John Lewis vouchers). I'm hoping the dealer experience will improve! All in all a great car and I look forward to the next 3 years of motoring!
  12. Ordered my Golf R Estate on 17 June 2016. Picking it up Friday - looking forward to it!!
