  1. A number of things that this kid did that raised my suspicions: > Initially runs to a side door, spends 10 seconds there, despite it visibly having no post-box > Runs to other door (used for burglary) and spends another 10 seconds there > He is running to/from the house, yet pauses for so long at either door? > When initially running towards the house, the kid is looking directly at the spot where the car is usually parked. It would be unnatural for someone to be looking in this direction, whilst running in a completely opposite direction > The kids trainers are almost identical to one of the people who came and stole the car > The kid turns up 30 minutes after we leave the house for an evening meal > When we return from evening meal, me and my partner do not recall seeing any flyers through the letterbox Some of the above may seem circumstantial, but it's been enough to make me (and the police) think he's related to the theft.
  2. My advice to anyone would be to check if you are vulnerable to a similar attack. They managed to break into our house as the cylinders in our door locks were cheap and did not protect against "snap" attacks. I have gone through and changed every external lock in the house to cylinders with anti-snap and anti-bump protection (Avocet ABS TS007). Easy DIY job, takes 5 minutes per door. Happy to share the info if anyone would like to do the same thing. Important thing is to measure the cylinder to make sure you order the correct replacement.
  3. Thanks all for the supportive comments. I unfortunately don't have GAP insurance, so now I have an uncomfortable wait to see what the end result will be with the insurance and VW. Seems CCTV also captured a picture of the guys face, when he came to scope out the property.
  4. Hi all, Long time lurker, 1st time poster. My pride and joy (Golf R Estate) was stolen last night from my house around 00:06. I am completely devastated. They got in by snapping the cylinder on our door, and then literally came in and took the car keys and nothing else. Car last seen by an ANPR camera on the M1 northbound (Darton area) at 01:00 26/04/2017. CCTV captured a few pictures of the culprits. Seems one of them came the day before to scope out the property, before running off. Please contact the police if you see my car, and please share. Hoping there might be some slim chance I can be reunited with my car. Cheers.
