Racingline CatchCan Review (Disappointment)
Lewis234 replied to WHY.A.H.WHY.A's topic in Modifying your Golf R MK7
Mine leaks from the same spot, when I was reading about it prior to my purchase I thought it was the plate that went onto the head was the point that was common for leaking so I used a gasket sealant on this to eliminate that, turns out it’s the bit on top which I never done. Now I’ll need to remove it all and reseal them all again. Just wish they would changed the design so them small allen key bolts weren’t in underneath the plate. -
Yeah it is older than 2 years, i had it in my mind to replace it just for the ease of mind of not having to worry about it. Just need a Part Number for said gasket to get one ordered up.
-
Hi does anyone have a part no for the gasket/ o ring that needs replaced when fitting the new vwracing plate onto the head, or are people reusing the original if it looks in good condition? Im going to seal it with some high temp gasket sealant as well as i've heard they're bad for leaking when the oil management system is installed. Thanks, Lewis

Good results, I’m interested to see how you get on with the Littco turbo, was tempted with that one myself.
-
Thanks for the reply, I did think that was the case.
-
Does the Apr oil management system only work with the Apr intake or can it work with the R600 also?
-
APR posted a video on Facebook of the full system.
-
Yeah you’re probably right, as long as it feels good on the road that’s all that matters.
-
Haha fair enough, I’m surprised you haven’t broke the 400bhp mark.
-
On the one mentioned above? Have you seen much differences when mapping vs an untouched is38?
-
£750 for a refurbished unit from him, or the cores go for around £300 as said. Ill have a whole turbo for sale soon if you wanted to keep your car on the road while you send one away?
-
Im sure the map would adapt to this as different weather conditions would almost act the same hot and cold days, having a slightly bigger intercooler vs the one that they created the map on. Well that’s how I looked at it. Not bad results there, have you had the intercooler done? Many reason why you changed from bcs to scorpion? Sounds like a monster, have you tried out the pop and bang map yet?
-
Brillaint, thanks for the reassurance. Did you have to adjust the accuator at all? Or did you just fit it as it was from Dan at Littco.
-
Thanks for the reply, I bought the turbo that I mentioned above and asked my apr tuner if anything was needed to be adjusted on said turbo and he said apr don’t support this turbo so it may work ok or may not and logging would be required. Dan from Littco did tell me a few people were running this turbo with no issues. It was mainly to make sure I wasn’t wasting my time on this as it was to replace my current 702N which has developed a bit of a whine on full boost. Is the turbo you’re running the same as the one I mentioned above? Thanks.

Hi, Is anyone using a Littco modified IS38 turbo on there car, or even better on a apr stage 2 map? Did you have any issues with the turbo on your car running stage 2 any map tweaking required? Or was it a straight swap and go? The turbo im talking about has had a modified core, thrust bearings, clipped turbine, cnc machined compressor still the same size as standard though along with being VSR balanced to a higher standard that stock. Pretty much a polished up IS38 over the stock ones. Thanks, Lewis

Sounds good, have you got any pictures of the new design or videos on how it sounds that you can share?
-
Is it a completely new design?
-
Great results on the higher octane fuel. Seen the live video Ecotune put up the other day, didn't realise that was your new car.
-
Yeah I did think this but I’ve seen people using a tte 525 on a map setup for a tte 470 and someone running a tte 6xx on a tte 525 map which made me think there couldn’t be much difference on spoll time and over boosting and peak boost being the biggest change being able to push for more on the bigger ones? Im just after more reliability over peak figures, as no one seems to do upgraded components to make the current is38 safe to ease my mind from it failing.
-
Do they come in similar version as the TTE? How do these turbos run on for example a stage 2 map? Obviously it wouldn't run at its full potential, but would it still run healthy? Mainly to eliminate the standard is38 from eating itself alive is what I'm looking for.

100mm Long 45mm ID both ends 19 Degree bend in the middle. That was my measurements if anyone else ever needs them for future.
-
Just came across the same brand on eBay, just away to measure it now. Was hoping someone would have sizes.

Yeah i think when i changed mine the jubilee has damaged the hose when i pulled it off by digging into it causing a small hole. Given me a small boost whistle when I'm on full boost.
