Burger Tuning JB4 information thread
EddieR replied to george@BMS's topic in Modifying your Golf R MK7
These engines are proven - tried and tested. They aren’t going wrong with a tuning box. Not a single one I’ve heard has gone wrong yet - and if it did, how can VW say you’ve fitted a tuning box because there is a pierced wire? They can’t. A guy I knew from RS3 ownership had his whole ECU sent off to Audi after it had a tuning box on since 50 miles. Not even Audi GMBH could detect a tuning box haha. Get yourself a JB4 it makes the car fun -

You don’t cut any wires with the JB4. I removed mine this morning it took 18 minutes. no wires cut, only 1 wire where a connector goes into it. Literally so straight forward. JB1 is similar to DTUK, whereas JB4 is similar to a remap. Why anyone would take a JB1 I don’t know -
No mate, does not affect power

Its never happened to me and my RS3 went back for warranty work on like 5 separate occasions for different things, including brakes and exhaust where they would do full scans etc. Had no hassle ! -

JB4 absolute no brainer. It sits in the cars “circuit” AFTER the ecu - so the car thinks it’s putting out standard turbo pressure etc yet the JB4 takes all of that, adds to it amongst other things and produces the additional power. ECU completely non the wiser, and fully removeable without a trace. I had DTUK on my S3 and RS3, JB4 on my golf R and now just ordered JB4 for my new car. Also have the JB4 for sale (4 weeks old) with Bluetooth connector if you fancy it - £450 delivered. -

Started exploring the map 6 with George and it’s making a big difference ! Although car is now being sold haha and the JB4 is coming off after 3 weeks! -
Absolutely I posted this on Facebook. Had a lot of interest and a couple of people coming back to me but obviously it is more difficult to move to a LTD company than just a private individual. Spoke to VWFS about it and have the form ready to go, just need a guy with a LTD company. You need to have a LTD company, it costs £80 to set a LTD company up and thats it. I leased directly through VW so have no other broker to go through etc. I can buy out of the lease but obviously don't want to do that.

You should have heard me when I called VWFS earlier - she asked why I wanted to get rid and I literally told her it's too good. There is no drama with the car, it handles so well, it is rapid, it does the job as it should do. The best place to get rid of a lease is not on an R owners club lol, everyone has one?

I ordered this car on one of the ridiculous lease deals back in July (£297 a month, white estate 7.5). I picked it up end of September and it is literally incredible. Fitted JB4 and a Helix sound system and I honestly couldn't want more of a car, but I think it is just genuinely too good ! It sounds strange, but I'm not excited when driving it because of the pin point handling and amazing pace with all wheel drive. Not really had this problem before haha but came from an RS3 8V and it sounded phenomenal, but the interior was a bit dated and it understeered for fun, so no where near perfect. I think I'm genuinely going to get an M3. Just need to find someone to take on my lease which shouldn't be too hard considering it's ridiculous good value! Am I the only one who think's the car is too good that it might be verging on boring?!
-
Why don't you lease an estate for £297 a month and £0 deposit over 2 years? Great idea !

Mine is a lease car, has JB4 on it after 1 day, Helix Sub, and Res delete booked November 4th. Mod away.......... get the best out the car

Well... I gave it a go today and fitted it absolutely fine. Was just panicking about removing the trims and not getting them to go back on properly but all was fine! What an absolute transformation in sound genuinely, picked this up 2nd hand so got a really decent deal. Would 100% recommend to anyone ! Need to code it now, although the sound is already great so maybe I don’t considering it is 2nd hand. Great info in this thread which helped me along the way so thank you. -
Will be no problem

I have got this system, but I cannot deal with removing all trims etc from side of the car! not sure who would fit this sort of thing - an auto electrician ? Or anyone here 😂 -

Now fitted the JB4 (was straight forward enough just ridiculously frustrating with the rubber gromit). Absolutely unbelievable difference! Only had it standard for one day but the JB4 really transforms it. Should be like this from the factory! Incredible. -
