My routine: get to the car at 0325. Turn it on then roll a cigerette and smoke. Once I get in the coolant temp is very near half way. By the end of the road it's at regular temp. My journey is 4 miles and takes 10-12mins. By the time I get to work the oil temp range is 80-90c. That's driving casual auto with gear changes between 2-4k. Not an awnser as such but experience from another R. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

Coilovers / Spacers / Brakes Upgrade
Griffa87 replied to Griffa87's topic in Modifying your Golf R MK7
Didn't realise you could get different grades of brake fluid. Can you recommend any specific brands I could take a look at? Thanks for the write up! You mention you did not want drilled discs, is this because of potential cracking under hard use? I wonder how common that issue is as alot of super cars have drilled discs with alot more bhp, being ceramic might be the difference. Are the CSS discs / pads a direct replacement then? -

The guys I deal with treat me well. I've spent alot of money with them so that's why I get good prices. Regardless of whether you tell them x got this price I cant say the same will apply to yourself with your local TPS. All I can do is advise you call them up to enquire and ask if there is a better price they can offer once they quote. -

Well phone your local TPS and ask them? Anyway, lets not digress. Do you have Clubsports on your R or would you be doing what i'm attempting? -

Why do you ask out of interest. I don't like advertising prices I get given off of businesses who help me out. -

You say you had a few sets on lol... Why is that. Have a mono tube design as well like the Bilsteins. I will take a look. Thanks -
Coilovers / Spacers / Brakes Upgrade

Having looked around online i'm also seeing that people rate the KW coilovers. Mostly due to there corrosion resistance. As this is my DD it would make sense... What would the B14 / 16 equivalent be for KW out of interest. -

Morning peoples, I hope this post finds you well! Now that I have the paintwork where I want it with the ceramic coat applied i'm looking at whats next. As i'm still in warranty I can't touch the engine sadly. Lets start with Coilovers. I have decided either Bilstein B14 or B16. I understand that they are the same in the way they operate, only difference being that the B16's come with adjustable damping. My Golf does not have DCC and has Pretorias wrapped in Conti contact sport 6's. My question is; How do the B14's ride without the adjustable damping compared to stock? To be honest i'm not much of a tuner in the sense of fiddling with kit and adjusting it. I like to have it set and forget about it. Any advice would be great! Moving onto brakes. My local TPS can give me all 4 discs and pads from the Clubsport S at a massively discounted price. From what I have read elsewhere these are a direct fit on the Golf R. Is this true? A question to anyone running them; Is the stopping power any better? It would be a waste to replace them only for looks as ideally I would like better braking from the upgrade. I'm not really interested in changing the caliper pot as its expensive. If i can get some slightly better braking from the Clubsport S kit then I would be happy. As a bonus they also look great on the car! Spacers I have covered on a previous thread but id be looking at ST Suspension spacers if the sizes are right once the above is fitted. Any fors or against on the above is welcomed. I could be missing something but from my research without experience I feel that it would be a good setup... if it all works. Thanks for reading. -

Just a thought. But wouldn't all that torque cause your wheels to spin up if you changed it to FWD? I think the reason the R is so good at launching is due to the Haldex system in the first place, regardless of additional weight. I remember showing my mate the LC off some lights after it had just rained and we lost no traction at all. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

I'd also take a copy of some up to date camera maps when available. Thanks Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

Photo I took earlier. I would definitely recommend a ceramic coat! Totally transforms the look of the car. Although like most things, the end result depends highly on the prep stages. At this stage I couldn't say if one particular brand is better then the other. But I am more than happy with Kenzo. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

It was either that or g-technic. Chose Kenzo as apparently it's glossier. Which by looking at it seems true lol. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

Taken me while to post this up. Been super busy! Car has had a 3 stage polish / correction detail, brake hubs painted along with interior protection and window treatment. Cost is steep by my god the results are something else! I thought a Sunday afternoon with some detailing products looked good lol. Company I used was Concours Detailing in Hartley Witney / Hook area. Bradley runs it, he is informative and doesn't settle for anything less than fantastic job Now.... where's the rain! Lol Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

Just found it. Thankyou very much that's exactly what I needed! Any idea where I can find part numbers for the inner rod assembley. Would rather replace it all if I can. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

Looking to fit this ally housing. Question is, what fits inside this to support the filter itself? Visited VW and looking at there parts system there are two types; the one pictured and one that is alot thinner. Another question is, if I loosen the housing as it stands will oil piss out everywhere? Had an oil change done 3-4k ago. This is quite frustrating for what is meant to be a direct swap lol. Any advice would be appriciated. Cheers Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

Don't mean to point it out. But without even looking at the post I noticed the two panels there are two different shades of white? Is that normal? Enjoyed reading the thread, some great mods so far! Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
