  1. Hey yall, looking at purchasing some black 8.5J 19’ reps from CM Wheels, on a previous post I’ve found out the OEM Prets are 8J. (Not sure why these reps are made slightly wider) Anyhow be good to hear people’s experiences on who's purchased these please!? Thanks all! 👍🏻
  2. Wow, that is crazy! Sorry to hear! I wouldn’t of even thought this was a possibility of new rims either way! 😬
  3. Cheers all, appreciate the info! I will start a new topic asking if anyone has bought the 8.5 Reps from CM wheels (pretty sure there is) and learn their wisdom! 👍🏻
  4. Does anyone know the OEM 19inch Pretorias are 8 or 8.5? Not sure where I can find this, tyres just say 235/35/19 Again, newbie question. ta!
  5. Hey all, looking at purchasing a new set of Pretoria reps from CM Wheels in 19’ inch. Only option for the set I want are 8.5, I’ve seen 8 in the past. (Had to look up what this was) I’m currently running 235/35/19 maybe a novice question but will the 8.5s be fine? Appreciate any advice!
  6. I have a bottle of Poor Boys Bird Sh%t remover & also a packet of Auto Glym Bird poop wipes. Thankfully the stain was removed free by my local detailer. It was just the clearcoat but damm it was not a normal plob, very green! Unfortunately I can’t check for bird poop everyday but now I’m inclined to after this episode. Thanks all!
  7. All fair points actually! My cars not ceramic coated but I’ve had it waxed & regularly polish it. This one bird crap was such a shock to see what it did. Council are not having rubbish bins picked up lately & my understanding is the Seagulls are eating everything & anything! Thanks for the responses all! I’m thinking twice now! 👍🏻
  8. Looking into a good cover for the R, with a recent bird poop 💩 leaving a mark , now thankfully machined out. As I only drive the R at the weekends would be beneficial to tuck it in for the week with a bit of protection. ..anyone gone down this route?
  9. Looking for a top up & I believed for the Golf R (2019) it is Castrol Edge 5W 30 LL (not the M one if I’m mistaken!?) But when entering Reg number on Halfords it says not correct for my vehicle!?? 🤷🏻‍♂️ Says Petronas instead. I’m not sure what brand the dealership now use, my old MK5 Gti was always filled with Castrol Edge & knew this was the good stuff which I’d prefer to use. Any info for a rookie question is much appreciated!
  10. Can anyone help with directing me choosing out some good Carbon wing mirror covers & sweeping wing mirror indicators please!? (Preferably the darker version indicators) I saw a good video with GRD Carbon covers & Osram indicators (indicators looking very expensive though ☹️) Seen a lot of cheap sets on ebay but would like to buy best quality as possible with my budget around £200 for both. Thanks all!
  11. I will try at some point! 👍 I have it back from the dealers and it's a lot more even rather than just the NSF now, hearing it from the passenger side now gives me a better understanding of it (to my surprise) they had two master Techs on it. I honestly may upgrade the suspension anyhow in a year or so. I am also having a cover letter to state that there is nothing wrong with the vehicle and it is a characteristic of the shocks of this model. ( go figure eh! ) I honestly pushed for it to be sorted and the dealer was totally understanding and was great at their end under the circumstances. I still had the choice to reject it if I wasn't satisfied but other than that the car is absolutely great to drive.
  12. So latest update, after finally getting over to VW and hearing it for myself it does sound better after going out with the Master Tech ( they looked at everything and tried everything from my understanding), him driving it, me in the passenger seat it does sound different, (just balanced evenly from the front) then myself driving. (I think I hear it louder more from the drivers position more for some reason) New wishbone was needed from my understanding, struts greased/ top mounts greased etc. Funny thing is I first went out in another 69 plate R with only 6,000 miles on it and it sounded the same to my surprise ( mine being not as bad that is). They drove all the Golf R's on the forecourt and all had the same hard rebound suspension at low speeds! On a hardish drive you don't hear the shocks, its more going slow. ...is this plastic hard sound just normal from the R's and am I being fussy!? God I hope that all made sense!😄
  13. Thanks all!! Transportation bungs out, top mounts, bearings bushes all replaced. They acknowledged the noise but I don't have any confidence now unfortunately. I know it shouldn't be there and I just hope I still can reject the car which is a huge shame. it's been 2 months now in and out the dealership.
  14. Hi Mat, I have an issue with my 7.5, sounds a bit similar too that but without hearing exactly I can't be sure, it too is currently in with VW Worthing, the Sussex one that is. I've had new shocks and lower arm fitted but no luck, I'm going in this week to collect it and drive another 7.5 to compare as they say it's a characteristic. Mines very plastic/ bit of a donk noise if that makes sense. Feel free to get in touch being a local. Will.
  15. Not great news! Been an absolute headache, so my nearly new 7.5 has been in the dealers more than I've owned it so I've had no news to update all this time. New Shocks, still the same! New lower arm nearside, still the same! ...Just been told its a standard characteristic of the Golf R and I'm going out in another 7.5 on Thursday for peace of mind! Please, does this sound correct? it's more of a hard plastic donking sound coming from NSF ☹️
