  1. This is the requirement for getting the OTA updates according to the TPI OUB8/OUB9: "For the customer to be able to carry out the over-the-air update in their MQB vehicle, the following requirements must be met: Vehicle must be enrolled (enrolled = We Connect contract must be active and a main user or Volkswagen ID must be assigned to the contract) Vehicle must have a main user Vehicle must not be in private mode"
  2. The Infotainment control unit from Golf 8 cars built before week 48 of 2020 are different from those built from week 48 of 2020 onwards. The 816/816A/816B/816C (SOP1) all come with the software version 16xx. A new update 1896 is out since March 2022. The 816D/816E/816F/816G (Discovery Pro) and 820D/820E/820F/820G (Discovery Media) (SOP2) all come with software 17xx or 18xx. These can also be updated to the latest 1896.
  3. This is some information about the Infotainment Display. As you can see they are manufactured in 2 different countries and that's why you have 2 different sets of hardware numbers with their own software. This is the Display Unit H41 from Germany: This is the Display Unit H46 from Hungary:
  4. For the Golf 8 engine cover there are 2 Tpi's: 1 - 2066140/1 Recall campaign 10H5 - Where the existing covers of the affected cars need to be removed until a newer version is ready 2- 2066394/1 - This is for new built Golf 8 with engine cover not available/not fitted and I expect this will be updated when the new version of the cover is ready.
  5. All those different Tpi’s with different problems are all risolved with the 1896 software update. This Tpi also brings software updates to other control modules like the brakes, side-assist, parking sensors, Harmon Kardon system, antenna, gateway central electric, rearview camera, keyless, Ocu. If the Golf is a mild hybrid then the engine and 48v battery module also get updated. Also of note this Tpi can’t be executed if the hardware number of the gateway is different then 5WA907530C.
  6. I have both TPI 2066384/1 and 2066207/1 and they are identical. Only difference is first one is for My21 while the second one is for My22/My23.
  7. hi. I have the TPI. How can I send it to you? It's in pdf format.

      Hi Massimo

I’ve unlocked the TPI thread so you can post up the TPI. 👍

I’ve also shifted your other very recent post from the software/hardware thread into TPI sticky thread.  The earliest 8R cars came with 1788 software so are post 16xx software, but it’s good info nonetheless for those with cars on 16xx.

  8. So the TPI 2066316/1 for updating the 16xx software to 1896 is out in the UK and Ireland. 3 other TPI's point to this 2066316/1 as the solution: 2065214/2 - We Connect: message for emergency call system/online services not available/event entry U178500 (MOD3.2) 2063712/5 - Driver assistance systems, rear view camera: picture sometimes too dark/shown with delay 2066464/1 - We Connect: "Become main user" not possible/fails (SW16xx, SW1810) [MOD3.2] There are other TPI's too but in German for now like Keyless Problems(2060781/4), side-assist or parking sensors not working(2064061/4) and various errors and problems with 16XX (2065241/3).
  9. The difference between 2065216/x and 2066316/x, apart the infotainment software from 1810 to 1896 and the various control units getting updated, is the missing PRCode L0L (Steering on the Right) which means it will be available for Ireland and UK also.
  10. Found on the German Erwin (Only in German language) the 1896 update for 166x. Number is 2066316/1. The 1810 update TPI number 2065216/6 has been discontinued with reference to 1896 TPI.
  11. So if i got this correctly, the 1896 software update is for all Golf 8 making future software updates a lot easier, every future version will be compatible with every Golf 8 built so far. Version 2xxx is in testing so i was told .. not sure what will come with this release. So the updates go like this: 1. 166X - 1810 - 1896 2. 178X - 180X - (1890) - 1896 (1890 has been replaced with 1896) Also most device part numbers get updated with thee 1896 software update.
  12. I did coding on various control units and the car has been in the workshop 10 times with the coding still applied and not a problem from them. I even left the alarm beep on lock/unlock activated 🤷‍♂️. My infotainment unit and display were swapped, my reverse camera was changed 3 times, the infotainment software was updated twice, the OCU, Central Electric and side assist reprogrammed... Steering wheel and the module for touch detection were swapped and it's still not over yet. Waiting for the software update 1810 and then 1896 as soon as the TPI will be available in Ireland/UK.
  13. My display was swapped because of problems with the reverse camera video flickering. I had H46 with SW 2092 and after the swap H41 with SW 3074. Still didn't solve the problem🤷‍♂️.
  14. When I had seen the H58 hardware that was my thought but someone from Germany who seems to have inside knowledge tells me it has the same chip as the H56 models , the R-Car M3. He said the change to H58 could be anything from a resistor change or different components used. It looks as if the new hardware will appear in the My23 build cars. There is already proof of a newer software "1896" coming out. And in testing a 2xxx is on the horizon...
  15. The device part number is more like a firmware number for the control unit. The 1890 Update applies to software 1780,1788,1803 and 1804. The device part number gets updated as following: 816D updates to 816G 816E updates to 816J 816F updates to 816G 816H updates to 816J 820D updates to 820H 820E updates to 820J 820F remains the same 820G updates to 820J
  16. Just wanted to explain the different Display hardware and software: So the Displays are built at two different factories: The following are built in Germany (Back of display is Black): H40 with software 3070 to 3074 (10/2019) H41 with software 3074 (12/2020) H42 with software 3080 (After 06/2021) While these are built in Hungary (Back of display is Gray): H45 with software 2088 (01/2020) H46 with software 2091 to 2092 (06/2020) H47 with software 2092 to 2101 (After 06/2021)
