  1. Is the genuine VW part only £200? If you don't service it, what potential issues might you hit and what sort of costs to rectify? I assume there's more to it than just the pump!
  2. Sorry to hear that. Are you going to continue with more Ozone treatment? Or, alternatively try one of these? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Car-Odour-Remover-Airvidox-Cigarette/dp/B076HBYDSD
  3. The OE front pads are £122.34 Inc VAT if you were to buy them yourself. £173.59 doesn't seem crazy based on that if you want to stick OE. https://www.vwmotorparts.com/20l-petrol-r-4-motion-c-695_697_750_773/genuine-vw-golf-20172019-front-brake-pads-20l-r-4motion-p-2152.html
  4. If you are unable to hear it locking/unlocking it will be the actuator. It is 100% covered under warranty, especially as it has completely failed. The part itself is about £32 but cost at a garage seems to be £150-200 fitted.
  5. Can you hear the petrol cap locking / unlocking?
  6. I'm overly cautious, to add some context to my post above! I haven't read any horror stories or seen any actual evidence of interior damage. Plenty of views/comments on this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3ma3gxPdoE If you do decide to go for it, I'd suggest limiting ozone sessions to 30 minutes on a hot day, after each session let the car air out then vacuum and wipe down all surfaces with some sort of all purpose cleaner. Please update the thread if you do.
  7. From what I've read a thorough clean is certainly the first step. Deep vacuum, steam clean and wipe down of all surfaces. Ideally by a professional valet/detailer. There are some other things to try, some of them very cheap (change the cabin filter). I would be tempted to try those first. Ozone generator advice seems to differ widely from some people suggesting to never run one within a car to people that have left one running overnight without any "noticeable issues". The problem I guess I have is, it's a very difficult thing to measure (interior damage). I'm not sure it's a risk I would take on an expensive car without more information, what happens if you do damage the interior/other components? Most of the cheap ones I've seen are between 6000/7000mg/hour I imagine they're all pretty much identical at that price point. Personally I wouldn't be too concerned about a timer, I'd much prefer to rely on myself to power the machine off and ensure it only runs for x minutes. https://www.reddit.com/r/cars/comments/nqxc59/i_think_i_used_an_ozone_generator_for_too_long/
  8. Do you know anyone in Cornwall that can provide this service? How risky is using an ozone generator for the interior of the car, I've seen various people mention it can damage rubbers or plastics but don't think I've seen any evidence/horror stories on my forum travels.
  9. Did you make any progress on this?
  10. I noticed the Briskoda thread was updated and registration was now working. I have now managed to activate Car-Net... however having looked at what it can offer I'm not sure it was worth the effort! I was hoping to see service history online once registered, but I see that has been removed and the "Guide & Inform Basic" package seems fairly pointless for £70 a year!
  11. Recently purchased a MK7.5 R which had a service in the last 1,000 miles, checked the oil and it looks overfilled. I assumed the max line is at the bend on the first red line, if so I imagine this is overfilled by 400-500ml (assume 1L between the bend section) however I saw mention that max on this dipstick is actually after the bend. Does anyone have know or have an official image of where the max line is? I tried: https://www.volkswagen.co.uk/en/owners-and-drivers/my-car/manuals.html but it's giving me "Sorry, something went wrong." at the moment. Debating if I need to nip it in somewhere to get them to remove some oil...
  12. Hi all - recently purchased a late 2017 Golf R 7.5 and looking at registering Car-Net. Information seems a bit scattered but I believe it's free for the first 60 months so I should still have a few months left to see what it offers. I assume it's needed to view service information online as well. I've signed up to myVW and put my VIN in and it has given me a code to enter into the infotainment system. If I connect it to my phone as a hotspot or via my home wireless it will prompt me for the registration code. However, after 30 seconds or so I receive the error "No data link available". If I try and load Car-Net from the top level menu "Car" I get "Connection to online services unavailable. Please try again later". Any ideas, on how to resolve? Issue is very similar to here (no resolution in this thread): https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/500542-amundsen-mib2-no-internet-connection/
