  1. I believe Park Assist will find and park in a sport that is only 20cm bigger than your car! That’s insanely tight. I need to look up that spec again because even as I type it it seems too small, haha!
  2. Sorry to hear the 1er is delayed. Glad you are moving forward with getting the Golf fixed up though. Looking forward to seeing the TPI posted! Best part of a year since the issue was first reported, right? Crazy…
  3. Pretoria’s make a great looking winter set up 👍
  4. I believe they are available in sizes that are replacements for cars that come with them from the factory, that’s it, but I could definitely be wrong on that. 225/40R19 seems a unique size. It’s weird how long they are delaying their general release.
  5. That’s been a long wait, eh? I haven’t stayed on top of it, when are the non-OE fitment sizes supposed to be released?
  6. @garykane1980 I would opt for 18” (or even 17”, there’s a few that fit) with dedicated track tires and keep the Warmenaus for the street. While the Warmenaus are light, they are narrow (only 8”) and 19s just don’t make for great track tires, and they are way more expensive to replace when worn than 18s or 17s.
  7. That’s a great pic! And a fun comparison. How is the interior of the 8.5 a step up? It’s the same. Edit: oh, the screen and screen (cluster). I get it, lol. When I read interior, I think seats, trim, dash, etc. Not the tech itself, haha. Sorry for being slow on the uptake!
  8. In the cluster, on the sub/secondary menus, go to the driving time and distance one. Then hold the > button on the steering wheel for like 5-10 seconds. This will take you to the service menu where you can reset the oil change and inspection intervals.
  9. You can reset them yourself in the car.
  10. I’m not really following. VW isn’t tracking it. The customer is. If you activate the stolen vehicle function you grant permission for the authorities to track it, not VW. https://www.vw.ca/en/owners-and-drivers/stolen-vehicle-recovery.html Is there really not something like this available with WeConnect/myVW in the UK? I COMPLETELY agree with you about not relying on it though.
  11. Haha, I think the sales of those 2 models in the US are bigger than the whole Canadian automobile market!! (A bit of hyperbole, but seriously those 2 models are like 600,000-700,000 vehicles per year and there’s 2M cars sold a year in Canada.) @AHG you are spot on that they are behemoths. I think the F-150 is 2x the Tacoma. The new Tacoma is very very nice though.
  12. Haha, fair enough. I actually wasn’t sure from the way your post read if you might be owner of that shop and I was very envious of it!! Love the Estate ownership history! They are all but dead here in North America, but you used to be able to get lots. Silly SUVs ruining everything 🤣
  13. Wow, IMHO Copilot got this quite wrong, haha. At least compared to how the system works here in Canada. If the internet connection was only on with ignition, how would you unlock the doors (which ironically that AI response says you can do) and download updates, etc. Here in North America, it absolutely has a stolen vehicle function and it has been used to locate stolen cars to some degree. I can’t believe the same wouldn’t be true in Europe? The huge short coming of the system is that everyone knows where it is. I am not sure what other manufacturers do about the fact that repairs manuals and wiring diagrams need to be published for the fixing of these vehicles. Therefore there are published docs that could literally aid in the bypassing of the system. Maybe someone familiar with other brands would know if they have ingenious ways of preventing this knowledge becoming public?
  14. Beauty “wagon” as we call Estates/Variants on this side of the pond (Canada, Yanks probably call them the same though 🤣). Totally agreed with others that the Jerez totally suit the car, looks stunning, lovely order! Are you a detailer? Love the SwissTrax floor.
  15. Oh man @Burble I’m SO sorry. That absolutely sucks. I completely agree with your frame of mind: do what you can to prevent a theft, but the “risk of personal harm” line is never ever crossed. It’s such a hard balance. As others have said, glad the police are acting swiftly! Ironically our dishwasher just bit the dust yesterday! I’m going to suggest a replacement as an anniversary present, thanks for the great idea 🤣 Keep us posted how the return of the car, etc goes.
  16. Ah man, so great to hear such a positive post! So much of the time we come on here to ask for help when things go wrong, or read posts about gremlins and whatnot, it’s just lovely to read a post like yours! I hope this doesn’t come across too sappy, but genuinely pumped for you in more ways than one. Firstly that you gave the brand, and the car a second chance, when you really didn’t need to after your bad luck with your MK8. Secondly that the car has delivered on its potential and promise. Thirdly and most importantly that you love it so much! For some reason (and I think I’m like a lot of folks on here) I kinda take it personally when people don’t like their Golf Rs. Because I’m so “invested” in how good they are… probably unhealthily so, haha. So it gives a bit of a boost when you hear someone else loves their R as much as I do. Thanks again for posting that, and hopefully the enjoyment just keeps growing and growing for a LOOOONG time!!
  17. Congrats! Too bad about the rain, but as @AHG post pics!!
  18. Well at least you have it back!! And back at the pump no less, hahaha!
  19. Longer!!! Haha! The MK2 really is a beauty. Is this your small bumper converted to big bumper? Maybe I just misunderstood the sequence from what you wrote above! I remember drooling over the cars in VW Driver! You don't still have a copy you could take a pic of a post do you? (Apologies, again I am taking a thread off topic!!!)
  20. I am not sure the tire itself is heavier. I’m pulling one PS4S off the Estoril to weigh both the wheel and the tire.
  21. This is a tough one, but I think I’m going to have to offer a very very waffly “not sure”!! I didn’t just go from Estorils to Warmenaus with the same tire. After I read your question I thought to myself, man, I SHOULD have just done the wheels first and kept the tires I was familiar with. But, well, as they say, hindsight is 20/20, haha. Back to your question, the feel is just so different, and I associate most of that with the crazy stickiness of the tires. In Race or Hulk mode the steering is almost too much now with how sticky the tires are. I’m SURE I’ll get used to it, but I certainly have not yet in the short period of time I’ve had them on. Sorry for weaselling my way out of answering your question, lol.
  22. Hey @Nighthawk, I absolutely remember you went with 245s!! Actually it was your post, and a couple of posts on vwvortex that pushed me out of my comfort zone to actually try the 245s, so thank you for that!! 🍻
  23. Thanks @Booth11! I have never driven a tire like the Cup 2! I know they are not top of the heap for this type of tire anymore, but they are absolutely sensational, to me. The only issue on a car like the Golf R that gets driven on normal roads on a regular basis is that they are SO sticky, I’m genuinely concerned for my rocker panels and whatnot now! EVERYTHING gets thrown up! Talk about cause and effect… It’s taken my pig-in-poop happiness down one notch as now I’m ultra aware/stressed about any sort of loose rocks or gravel on the road. But the turn in and handling is pretty spectacular.
