Okay, I'm about to replace the interior this weekend but after pulling up a bit of the back carpet again, it feels wet (but this could just be condensation or water build up from the sodden underlay) in the rubber grommet near the bottom of the footwell (where the back of your ankles would be if you sat on the seat.
Could that be a source of leaking area? If so, where does that come from?
Has anybody else ordered any gloss black mirror caps from eBay or Amazon or elsewhere? I ordered some from eBay and they came and had a slight pearlescent shimmer to them and the same with the ones I've just ordered from Amazon i.e. not a flat gloss black?! Just wondering whether this is how they come?
Hi. I'm doubting you still have your Golf R as this post was from 2019! However, I've still got my R from my new purchase back in 2017 and looking to do a few subtle mods. Really like what you did with yours. Looks amazing and I want to copy it!! Couple of questions…
- Can you remember where you got your black "R" emblems from for the boot and grill?
- How did you get on with the Maxton splitter? Any good? TBH, I've never had a splitter on my cars as I'm always nervous there going to scrape speed bumps and I have to slow down to 1mph to avoid!!
Thanks.
Liking those splitters. Can you let me know what they are and where you purchased them from. Looking at adding some simple ones to my white Golf MK7 R and I love the simplicity of these.
Yeah I think I’ve decided to stick to the cloth seats. I remember now when I had a Z4 that problem with the. Being freezing in the winter and boiling hot in the summer. The R leather seats do look great though.
I’ve currently got the fabric interior on my 2017 R but thinking of switching to the leather interior. Does anybody have any experience of both? I often find leather seats a little slippy and why I like he fabric ones which really hold you in around bends.
I’ve actually just gone ahead and pulled up a bit of the back carpet. The underlay is soaking wet and obviously that’s why my car stinks! Going down the replace the carpet and underlay route but first need to figure out where the water is coming in from. There is water sitting on the door sill so presume it’s still coming from the door somewhere. I’ve completely sealed the speakers so not sure where else to look!
Just revisiting this as my car is starting to stink! I had the rear speaker issue. @Leespo not sure if you still have yours or whether you can remember all of this but you mentioned that you pulled the carpet up at the rear, initially. Was that part straight forward? Not sure where to start - presuming I need to take the rear seats out to be able to pull up the rear carpet? I think the smell is coming from the rear passenger footwell as that side was much worse than the driver side and when I put my nose right up to it it does seem very musty. Any help, much appreciated. Thanks.
